If you didn't break up under nasty circumstances, there's no reason you can't be friends. I'm friends with several ex's. I know it's very possible. It depends also, on your maturity levels.
Sometimes, people make better friends than partners. I would however...use caution at first. Did she break up with you...did you break up with her...or was it mutual? If you are the one who broke it off, take it slow. You don't want her to think you're subconciously trying to start over, more cautiously.
Start by just chatting with her on the phone. Then maybe go out with groups of people and be careful to interact with her JUST LIKE you do the other people. After a while, you really WILL be just friends.

A clean break is the best answer. The reasons that she wants to remain friends are not the same reasons you want to remain friends. Find yourself a new girlfriend! Dont ever feel like you have to pay for dinner or movies if you go out "as friends" anymore. She has enjoyed the benefits of having a boyfriend and doesn't want to lose that. Dump her and run the other way! Man up!

I would ask her and a couple of friends to hang out and watch some movies. Maybe put an arm around her in a friendly way, but remind her that you still like her, but you understand that she just wants to be friends!
Maybe take her and some of your friends to a movie, or out to dinner.

Some animals always try to adapt themselvess to survive. People sometime have to adjust themselve to regain balance. That is very normal. As the relationship is not possible, it could be fantastic friendship. Depend on your opinion, you can decide to run away or stay in your friendship. One hand make nothing

Ok. This takes some imagination so bear with me. You go up to your to your ex-girlfriend and and say. "We are enemies now, but I believe in the golden rule which states "Love thy enemies." Then wait a few moments act like you are deep in thought and say "Sorry I tried but I am still in love." And walk away.

going out with friends is a good idea.
also going out to see a movie is a good way to start, if you don't want the extra company. you don't have to interact that much when you watch a movie, which is a bonus if you feel uncomfortable being with her.
hope that helps =]

It is just like you two are just hanging out like you probably do with your friends. You can go with other friends to make it more fun too because you pro ably like to chilax with more than one person.

Well, she obviously still wants you in her life. Just be there for her, talk to her, have fun with her, if may seem a little awkward at first. But give it time, trust me. Goodluck.
