it depends on what you mean by the right thing. I never have problems doing the right thing. That's because i do not have anyone else telling me what's right and what's wrong. I have reasoned situations out and figured out what's right and what''s wrong. For eg, I just saw someone drop some money on the street or i find a wallet on the floor with money in it, i return it to lost and found. Easy. Why? Because it's not mine and if i dropped money on the street, i would want to get it back. I don't say my prayers daily. No problem, I don't believe in saying them anyway. I tell a big fat lie? Would not do it. I believe in honesty it's the only way i can really communicate with people. So actually, it's not hard doing the right thing if you believe it is the right thing. Now when someone else tells you this is the right thing to do and it doesn't make snese to you then yes, you may have a problem doing the right thing

That war between the spirit and the flesh is a battle that rages on forever, and will never end. Battles can be won, but never the war.

It is, however, possible to have one side stronger than the other, but as with any war, the moment one side shows weakness is when the other will attack. What you need to know, is the type of person you want to be, and the type of person that you can look at in the mirror. Once you are 100% positive that you know, use that as a dividing point, always aiming to return back to that point at times when you faulter. Even the most spiritual people in the world can faulter and stumble from time to time. The ones who win the most battles, however, are the ones who get up to continue the fight.

Something to remember is that anytime you say to yourself "What's the use?" or "Why do I bother?" it is a win for the other side. Those are the sayings you want to keep from saying. ;-)

Good luck!

James

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. Gal 5:17

The Apostle Paul struggled too. He also said that the things that he should do, he didn't. and the things that he should not do..he did.

It is the classic battle between soul and spirit.
The only cure for all of us(myself included, big time) is to live in the Spirit, so as not to obey the desires of the flesh.

Because we are in a constant battle within us between the flesh and the spirit. The old man and the new creature. We have to put to death that old man every day. The presence of the Holy Spirit is not something we always feel. He wants us to walk in faith not by feelings. Sometimes He will let us feel His presence to assure us of His love.

A lot of the time it just gets easy to do the wrong thing at the wrong time. I believe the human spirit responds to waves, or frequency of influence that is able to penetrate our minds. When we have a build up of immune resistance to the hard to do right thing, we take the path of least resistance. So, through the spirit of the creator, we must build immunity to the easy to do wrong thing. Sort of like it is easy to gain weight, and hard to lose it.

Because we're human. The apostle Paul said I do what I don't want to do and don't do what I want to do. It takes work to do the right thing. Memorize scriptures that you can use when you find yourself wondering where God went. You need to make doing the right thing a habit so it comes natural to do the right thing.

And get prayer when you need help. I will pray for you my sibling in Christ.

It takes time to learn how to walk.
Evil arises from 2 main sources,
the old nature of Adam and the influence of demons, the agents of Satan in the earth.
They are not overcome in the same manner.
The former we must reckon dead, and then the latter we must actively resist, and sometimes cast out, in the name of Jesus.
May I recommend the teaching of one of God's choice servants of the past 50 years, Derek Prince.

The flesh and the Spirit are in conflict with one another. The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

It's hard because you think you need a spirit to do the right thing. Stand on your own and it becomes far easier to help your neighbor.

Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

And the exercise of faith rarely yields good feeling, only afterwards upon postively reflection do we see where God was getting us through those trials and temptations, not by my will but God's will be done.

It takes what it takes.
