The following is my interpretation of the quotation:

When you realize how little you know, comparatively nothing, you concede, then you have reached a certain intelligence or maturity which enables you to absorb learning more readily; that knowledge then gives you an advantage over those who believe that they know everything and may therefore be resistant to instruction.

As for relating or applying the quote to the work force (a job situation?), perhaps such wisdom might enable one to be flexible in the job, take constructive criticism more easily and to employ the acquired expertise then to progress in his or her career, gaining promotions and continuing to pursue additional and valuable education (self-improvement) while becoming a continually greater asset to the company.

To me this says that we all have a great deal of learning to do. In being willing to learn, to be uninhibited in admitting our ignorance, and being open to change, we become better and more capable human beings. Sometimes those who think they know everything know little. Imagine working for someone like that! Have a great day! Annie

There's always new things to learn in a business...not just the job you're doing.

Being smart is all about being willing to learn. People who assume they know it all aren't open to learinging new things. People who are willing to learn new things are more liklely to succeed.
