My hair is naturally auburn. I have a very light complexion and blue eyes. When I do dye it (once or twice a year) I go either a shade darker or a shade lighter. I am feeling ambitious and am thinking about going a light strawberry blonde or caramel colored blonde. 2 questions:
1. How do I get it so light with out going to a salon. I just can't afford that.
2. What to do about the eyebrows. Will they look silly darker than my hair???

my hair is also shoulder length but I want to get side swept bangs and get it cut just past my chin and layered so I can flip it out. I think it would be cute. What do you think?

The eyebrows will be fine. Don't try to dye or lighten them, it will look funny.
If you want to go that light using an at-home product, I would recommend using L'Oreal's "Les Blondissemes" haircolor which contains a 30 volume developer (which is stronger and therefore gives more "lift", or lightening) in a shade that has golden tones, to bring out the strawberry/caramel color you're after. You will still have some hints of reddish tones. This line of haircolor is very high lift, and will lighten enough without using a bleach which can damage your hair. Use the lightest gloden blonde in that line. And leave the product on for the full 45 minutes.
I just read someone else's answer about using a non-peroxide temporary lightener......... there's no such thing. the only way to go lighter is to remove color, and that must be done with a peroxide based product, and it is permanent.

I would not advise going that much lighter without some professional help (salon) you may end up with orange hair or ash blonde hair. ask a stylist to do a partial hilight a few shades lighter even chunky if you want real drastic; it looks like a hilight but not all over the head and you can get the change you want with out all the big price.
alot of people leave their eyebrows darker, mine are darker always have been even when I was little they were darker. believe me if you dye them too they will look CRAZY when they start to grow back and have patches in them of both dark and light it's not pretty.

Since you mentioned getting bangs, I'm not sure how long they'd be, but if you feel self-conscious about the eyebrows not matching the hair, they could cover that up some. Darker sounds good, so do the blondes, but names like strawberry blonde and caramel colored blonde make me hungry, haha. To go lighter, you can use bleach, but anything you use to lighten it is going to dry out the hair a lot, so just condition the hell out of it afterwards.

No, i don't think your eyebrows will be too much of a problem, as long as they're not too dark.
Though, I think you will have to bleach your hair before, just a bit,and then apply the hair dye, in order to get the lightness.

just pick up a bleaching kit and do a few highlights it will make your hair color appear lighter, without over processing it. leave your eyebrows alone if you decide to do the highlights... it will look great!

I would try a gentle non-permenant lightening product witihout hydrogen peroixide or ammonia in it. And don't mess with your brows!
