Volunteer at a local animal shelter or humane society. If its a paying job that you want then try some pets shops that sell cats & dogs. There's being a dog-walker or a pet sitter for other people when they go on vacation. Other wise take some croarses that would involve animal care, like in a vet's hospital.

Definitely a veterinarian. You can open your own practice or clinic and specialize (cats, dogs, farm animals, exotic animals, etc). You can have a big house in the country and a great dog that you rescued and that sits on your front porch. Sounds like a dream job to me!
Plus, with a vet degree you can really get involved in animal rescue, etc. Because with a degree, everyone will take you seriously.

I'm retired but I'd love to own an alpaca farm.
Jobs could range from becoming a veterinarian to a vet tech, a dog walking service;dog sitting for people on vacation; a grooming shop; a boarding kennel; working in a pet store; working in an animal shelter; obedience training; raising/training service dogs.

It depends what age you are, an animal shelter would be a good start as i have done, then you can go to a vet. I would not personally choose to be a vet because i love animals and do not want to see them hurt. They was i chose was to be a dog trainer and a seeing eye dog trainer. It also depends what animals you like

You could be a vet or a vet's assistant. You could run a doggie boutique where you groom the animals or you could train them. You could evn work in a zoo.
