I'm going with your Mom. Every girl I've known who've been in a wedding as a bridesmaid have bought their own dresses. My bridesmaids are buying their own dresses as well. Try and keep in mind what they can afford while keeping in mind what you want for your wedding day look! :)

nowadays bridesmaid generally buy their own dresses. I work in a bridal shop and the brides almost never buys bridesmaid dresses. Every now and then if a girl can't afford the dress and the bride really wants her in it, she will pay for half or all of it. But the most dresses I've seen a bride pay for is two. I f you do plan to help a bridesmaid out there is no need you or girl should mention it to anyone else, because if word gets out people will get mad you didn't pay for theirs too and it will only create drama.

Bridesmaids typically buy their own dress. If you asked someone to be in the wedding and you know they can't afford a dress, you might want to ask someone else to be a bridesmaid and have the other friend be a personal attendant. That way they are not obligated to spend money they don't have. I would say an average bridesmaid dress is under $200, plus alterations. If the dress is way out of range and you want them to have specific shoes, purses etc you might want to offer to pay part, but most plan to spend around $500 for the wedding. Assuming they buy the dress and accessories, you might want to get them a gift to show your thanks and give it to them at the grooms dinner.

The Bridesmaids should pay for their own dresses. I've been in 4 weddings and have always paid for my own. However, in all cases, the bride bought me the jewelry to go along with it, as a gift. Additionally, in two of the four, the bride paid for my hair to be done.

Your bridesmaids would generally buy their own dresses and shoes, etc. It is typically a nice gesture for the bride to buy the necklace and matching earrings to go with the dress. If there is some type of financial hardship for them and you can afford to buy them then it would be a more than generous offer on your part.

It depends on your money situation. If you have the money you are suppose to buy them, but if you are tight on cash as most people are when they get married you are not required to. But if you don't buy them the dresses then you might run the risk of them wanting to pick the styles, colors, etc. And if they are buying the dress they may not want what you have as they are paying for it. My friend made htem pay for their dresses but what happened was they didn't wnat the dresses because they felt they could never use them. And one of the ladies was bigger then the rest and couldn't get her size. So they ended up deciding that the color stays the same but every person could get their own style dress.

I would say it is up to you. Every wedding I have been in I did by my own dress. Just make sure you pick a dress that is reasonably priced and is decent looking so they could possibly use it again.

Bridesmaids purchase their own dresses unless you pick out something extremely extravagent and expensive knowing that the bridesmaids can't afford them.
