My all time favorite is old-school Phoenix gold amps. Their new amps are not as good though. When it comes to brand new amps my ulitmate favorite is JL audio slash series. Next favorite is going to be alpine amps.

I hope those Fosgate and Hifonics amps are pretty old b/c Zed hasn't made amps for either company in quite a while. Zed also made Autotek, Lanzar, and a whole crap load of other legendary amps. Back in the day when a 1000w amp was king kong.

Personally, I don't see any benifit of the old school amps over the one's you can buy that are made in Korea, China, and India today. Sure, they produced beyond spec, but put that old school Hifonics next to a brand new true 2kw amp from a major manufacturer, and I don't think you'll care too much about old school anymore. I will admit that a 4 foot long amplfier looks pretty damn cool though. Keep in mind too, that those "king kong" amps cost like $600 + back then. You can get about 10x the amp for the same money today.

In the past decade since the major manufacturers started shifting to over-seas manufacturers for even their "top of the line" amps, the quality of imported amps has gone up dramatically. For instance, the first few years Lanzar was made over-seas, their amps really were crap. same with Fosgate. I can't speak for Fosgate, but Lanzar makes a pretty good amp these days.

Right now, I'm between systems but I'm running an older Autotek Street Machine. it is not a Zed amp, but it works great.... Made in Korea. I also have had a couple of Lanzar Vibes recently. All were good. I bought fosgates about 4 or 5 years ago and they crapped out on me.
I have owned a lot of other amps. most of them were ok.

My next sub amp will probably be annother Lanzar class D. I'm waiting for a new car before I put a new system in.

i use a Boston Acoustics GT-28 for my subs, and a Kenwood Excelon XXV-02A 4 channel amp for my front comps. i would have a Kicker 200x2 powering my rears, but it stopped working about a week ago. now thats 2 kicker amps that under no abuse have failed on me. so needless to say i'm not ever buying a kicker amp again
