is it actully bad to leave things pluged in when you arent using them?

but someone told me that they have heard that it doesnt matter & that it does

some things use power even when they are off.
which is a problem because yes, greenhouse gasses are generated by coal-fired power plants that make electricity.
one good way to tell is if they have a light that is always on (even when you turn it off) they are still using electricity.
anything with an "instant on" feature like a tv that turns right on is using power even when it is off. also make sure you buy appliances that don't use electricity when they are off.
