I was working security on one of the Air Force bases when Katrina hit. The Mexican Army showed up and set up first aid stations and a commisary unit to feed everybody. From sunup to sundown, they were there either bandaging or feeding people.
They were here for more than four months and not one of them got a day off nor did they ever complain. They did their duty "Above and Beyond the Call". In times of disaster,Mexico's troops will step to the plate.

When the Katrina disaster, Mexico sent troops with a lot of food, and watter for the people in New Orleans.
Also sent two navy ships to help in the rescues.

Unfortunly the U.S. goverment banned from the newspapers and TV most of news about it.

Hispanic and Mexican have done plenty...believe me I am one....First let me go ahead and say that In WWII over 500,000 hispanic joined in effort to help the US...not even citizens...what does that tell you mexico has been in a world of war...not only did they have to fend off the spainish but also the french and the US who still (controls) most of their economy.

Hi! I am so glad that you asked this question. Let me tell you a few recent examples. Back in 2001, when a tremendous earthquake hit El Salvador, Mexico was the first country to send scores of rescuers to help, including a specialized team of "topos" (gophers) that was created in 1985 after another earthquake in Mexico. Then, in 2004, Mexico sent two naval ships to Indonesia to help people suffering from the tsunami. And,
-very important- when Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of the US in sept 2005, the mexican Navy also sent two ships and terrestrial troops to help in the cleaning of debries and providing food and shelter to many people. I was there, as the first mexican TV reporter in the area and let me tell you it was moving to see how two countries with so many differences can get along when disaster srtikes. Thanks again for asking and of course these are just a few examples. Jose Martin Samano, News Anchor. Azteca America National Network. Channel 54, Los Angeles

Why are you asking this?? Isn't the U.S. the one that is supposed to be number one?? and talks about all this freedom and justice?? If it's number one, it should do something to be there. Mexico has a corrupt government, the politicians are horrible. People, customs, culture, and everything else is great though!
