It's caused by abrupt withdrawal of the medication. Depending on the dose you were on when you quit, the withdrawal lasts about 2 weeks. Dramamine helps you get through the withdrawal.

Lexapro is similar to Zoloft, both of which I stopped in the past, and I tell you, the first 2 weeks or so of quitting each were living hell. I weaned myself off like I was supposed to, and I still felt dizzy and like puking at times. (I was up to 150 mg.)

From what I understand, stopping affects everyone differently. All I can say is I sometimes had wished I never started the stuff in the first place.

I hope you feel better. Drink lots of water and take vitamin b complex. Good luck.

I'm not 100% positive, but I'd say if you were throwing it up, it was because you were having an allergy to the medication. I took lexapro for a while along with cymbalta, (my doc wanted me on it for my eating disorder even tho I didn't feel depressed) it caused me depression and suicidal thoughts. It took over a month after I stopped it for these things to go away.
You'll want to tell your doctor your having this problem right away, and see if there is something else they can put you on. Of corse another suggestion is maybe you just need to eat something with the medicine to help with the nausea. good luck

I did not have that problem when I went off it.

I was on 10 mg.

Then I went on 5 mg for a week.

Then I stopped it completely.

I personally did not experience any side effects going off it.

Did you just abruptly stop taking it? If so, you shouldn't have. You have to be weened off it.

Call your doctor and ask to be weened off it so relieve the nausea.
