God's Word says that you ROB God if you do not tithe...that sounds dangerous. blessings follow obedience, if you are faithful in the little things, God can trust you to make you ruler over much! God says that if you will bring all the tithe into His Storehouse, you can PROVE Him, that He will pour out a blessing that you will not have room enough to contain...that sounds good to me. Don't keep anything that does not belong to you! It is not God's fault that you did not use wisdom in managing your money. You need to ask God for wisdom, and make up your mind not to get into debt again. It is better to have just a little possessions and peace, than lots of things and debtors knocking at the door. Choose to obey God and pay all your tithes faithfully, God is more faithful than you will ever be, He keeps His promises. Allow your faith to stretch and watch what God can do!

I have to laugh at the way you put this question! yet I understand your reasoning. Those of you who responded to this question should not take it so seriously. Have a little sense of humor. GOD won't mind! Anyway, I will say this to you...Does it make any sense to you that GOD would need anything from us other than our aknowledgement of him and his love? You know in your spirit that he does not need our money! so that being said, tithing is not what many believers think it is. It was merely a way to share your wares, back in the day with the needy who did not have. GOD did not intend for us to give what we do not have, only for those who were rich and well off to help out with the less fortunate or he wanted us to give of our time as a way of tithing. It did not have to be monetary. These priests and preachers and leaders from the olden days only embelished tihing as a way to get their congregation to help pay for new buildings, cars etc. . They would have us believe that if we don't tithe we will not be blessed with good tidings. Now does that sound like the GOD you were brought up to know as a loving and kind GOD? of course not and that is because GOD did not mean it that way at all. Malachi has been twisted in it's meaning by men through the years along with many phrases in the bible that are so inaccurate. Actually only 12% of the bible is accurate! I hope this helps. Research the chapter, I think it is ch. 3 in Malachi, go online and look up the true meaning of tithing and you may be surprised at what you find out. Good Luck!

I've never seen begging in church. Only the tv "evangelists".
Church members give voluntarily to common causes. When we take an offering in our church, and there are visitors, we generally mention that visitors are not expected to contribute.
For me to give to God's work does me a lot more good than it does him.
If a local church wants to have its own building, they vote together to buy it, and they pay for it together.
If they want to call a full-time pastor, then they vote together to choose the pastor they want, and they pay him a salary, so they can benefit from all his time and not just some of his time.
Or do you expect the church to go begging from a larger organization or from the government? No. A church of believers pays its own expenses.

The church needs to tithe because all that money goes to building and expanding and spreading the faith. If you arent a Christian (i get the feeling you're not) then dont even start complaining about a faith that is not your own. You dont have to tithe, you have nothing to do with tithing so dont complain about people who can be gracious enough to give to the church.

God doesn't have any trouble at all, but people have to pay for heating, water, lights, etc. It seems to me the only people who have a problem with Christians tithing to their Church is folks like you. What do you care? We take care of our Church buildings and that is being responsible.

I don't know the biblical answer. But to me tithing is really there to help the church be able to help others. At least that is how it works at my church. We are grass roots and spend lots on other these un needed things. Just the basics. Then we can help others in need.

When was the last time you actually saw this?

It's the greedy atheists who ask such questions (not all atheists are greedy) who want money for everything. So for the church to pay its bills - I assume you'd like that - they need money.

To perform good works, the world system demands payment for goods the church uses to help others.

Your selfishness is why church goers need to cough up a bit...

Tithes help pay the rent, lights, water, gas, all the bills.
If you every paid your own bills, then you would know this.
God never begs.
Your lack of respect shows you are a child.
Grow up.<><

You lack understanding, wisdom, and class. We tithe cause God commands it. The money goes to pay for the mortgage, gas, phone, electric, sewer, the pastor's salary, etc.
