Peanut will settle down soon, when the kitten reaches about a year everything that hangs down will be safe. Furniture maybe not so, and the kitten will always love a mouse, whether it be real or on the computer.
Keep a steady supply of toys, it will keep Peanut out of mischief, if you can play with Peanut as much as possible and it will help her get some of that boundless energy out of her little body.

Actually the later the better. they should calm down by the time they are about 8 or 9 months old, but some take longer. It's a good chance that your caat may continue hopping up on your computer and playing with the mouse. My cat is 16 and is still trying to learn to type. I'm surprised she isn't here right now. Anyway it's a good sign when a cat plays, it shows they are happy where they are. She will calm down as time goes by and she will start to sleep more and more. Keep her playing it is good for her and good for you. Enjoy her while she is a kitten those are some of the best times to watch her have fun.

Kittens have to be trained as children do. If they show behavior that is undesirable, you must gently put her down from the computer and tell her firmly, NO!! If you do that each and every time this jumping up where she does not belong occurs, she will get the message sooner than later. A water gun is another safe and favored way to make a misbehaving cat stop that behavior Be sure to have the cat spayed before she is 7 months old to avoid mating behaviors that may also be wild and result in a multiple pregnancy. Get Peanut a toy mouse so that she will have something else to occupy her attention while you are on the computer.

My kitten is only 5 months old and is CRAZY!! So i understand where you're coming from. (My little bundle of fur also enjoys the computer mouse!!) I dont think there is any specific age the calm down, but my kitty is an indoor cat so sometimes ther hyperness can be from being bored. My partner and i are not at home from 8.30am - 4pm so we found that when she gets all hyped up and crazy we make the time to giver her quality play time to wear her out. I think if you play with your kitty she will feel wanted and it is surprising how tired kittens can get after about 10 minutes of hyperactive playing together. Thats what works for us, so maybe it will work for you. Good Luck!!

If you get her spayed she will calm down somewhat. This is normal kitten behavior!

If she stayed with her family she would play like this as a way to learn how to hunt & hide from predators and fight off any other animal that might catch her.

Playing also helps develop muscles and is pre-programed in her brain.

They all settle down after getting around 6 months old but some stay playful {but not as wild} forever. I have one that plays all the time and he is 2 years old, one other that is 4 and is really calm now, kinda lazy actually!

This is the best time to start trying to train her, as one poster said get her a mouse and try to distract her with it when she gets on the puter.

My playful one still gets on the desk & tries to catch the cards when I play solitare and I like to watch him, I even have different screen savers just for him like the one of a fishtank.

When you take him away from the computer be sure to say NO and set him on the floor, don't give up it takes time & patience to train a cat!

There is one toy that might really keep her busy, it is a large hard plastic mouse that is "touch activated" and rolls around the room and eyes with lights inside blink & it says stuff, my cat is nuts about it {costs about $5 at Target}, another one by Hartz is a ball looking thing with a pole & feathers on top, you just wind it up & it spins the pole with the feathers around & around & the cats love this thing too.{about $4 also at most stores, even grocery stores carry it}

I thinks that all kittens are very active, they just love to play and will chase anything that moves. Just be patient, she'll out grow her liveliness as she gets older. My cat is almost 9 years & is very quiet, I remenber her as a kitten, there was no stopping her, now I wish she would play more, instead of just eat and sleeping. The only way I get her to move is throw her treats far down the hall, so she runs for them. Kittens all are curious & get into everything. patience is all that is needed.

I've had three kittens one never stopped he ended up getting run over, an other stopped when she was about 5 months she was an over achiever but the average one stopped when he was about 7 months it depends on the cat but most will die down before they hit 1.

This is kind of of a kittie thing... Could she be a feral cat? Sometimes they kinda stay a little wild if she is. My cat used to do that as a kitten and the only way she calmed down is after I adopted my other cat who is older... Just enjoy her... and try to keep her occupied with toys. You can tire her out that way... but please be patient... she is just a baby.

good luck!

boy does that sound familar! my cat used to do that ALL the time when she was a kitten. slowly she settled down though. i think our dog also helped train her to be a little more relaxed because they used to chase each other around! anyways i think after your kitty moves into cathood she should calm down. you could try buying those little cat mouses and throwing them away from the computer and see if she chases it and leaves your computer alone. just dont let her bite you because once they start, they dont stop when their older. Good luck!

Ha ha ha ha!!!! Great question. Cats don't really calm down enough for us until after 2 years old. Yep. Had many many cats in my life. But since your girl is extraordinarily playfuly mischievous, you may have to get her one of two interractive toys - toys she can play with by herself becuase they react to paw swipes or whatever lese the cat likes to do. Another idea is to get her a cat tree or gym so she can climb up and down and hide and swat and scratch and perch and bat to her heart's delight. Position it so that she can look out a window when she sits on one of the perches... once she discovers the joy of bird or insect or squirrel watching, you will be liberated!!!! yayyy!
