If the teen is underage then the doctor can tell the parents as they are the child's legal guardians. However, if the child is underage and pregnant then she is called an "emancipated minor" and the doctor cannot tell anyone about her medical history without her permission.

No, parents do not have the right to know. If you go back to the clinic with the child, the doctor may tell if the parent is in the room. But for the most part, the child is the only one who has the right to know.

Don't know for sure....you had better pose this question to the doctor's office before you go.
Either that, or look for a free clinic where you can walk in with or without a parent.
I think you'd be okay though. Although I don't agree with this, the sad fact is most teenage girls can get an abortion without their parent's consent or knowledge, so it looks to me like you could see a doctor and get treated for an STD without their knowing.....
If you think you have something to hide, better call ahead to find out for sure.....
OR, do the unthinkable: Sit down, talk to your parents and consider abstaining from behavior in the future that is going to hurt you or put you in this kind of compromising position.
Wishing you all the best....

After a certain age the doctor will only speak to the teen unless the parent is in the room with the teen's permission.
Prior to that, it is the doctors responsibility to report it not only to the teens parents but the authorities, as child abuse (statutory rape).

I've not been through it but I know that anytime my mom came with me to the doc's, even though she booked the appt., she never came in and the doc never told my mom if there was a problom. It depends on your age too. Can you ask your mom to stay in the waiting room? I would call the office and ask the secretary what thier policy is. You don't need to tell her who you are, I would just ask and thank her for the info. She probably won't even ask who's calling since she knows it's really none of her business. It's just a question your asking and she's there to answer it.
Hope all is well with you!!
Good Luck!

I'm not sure, but I think that if you're underage they HAVE to notify your parents.
