Understand one thing about the Marine Corps, all Marines are infantry first ! You can be a tank commander or a pilot, but you are also trained as an infantryman.
Most infantrymen are assigned to infantry, they don't select it, it selects you. So, the possibility of you going into combat are really very good. Actually, it's pretty hard to avoid if you are a new recruit.
Marine Corps boot camp is about twelve to thirteen weeks, followed by infantry training regiment. A week or two back home to see molly rotten crotch, and you're off to the races!
If that language is offensive, understand that it has been repeated a million times over the last number of years by a million jarheads fresh out of training and ready to get on with what they have been trained to do.
Many are so eager to get on with getting to their first duty station, they would forgo the trip home . Their life is the Marine Corps ! Their life before boot camp, for many, is a distant memory, it's simply not as important as it was, at one time.
He is now ready to test his new skills under adverse conditions. He is anxious to see how he will respond in combat; how he will face the enemy; how he will respond when an enemy combatant falls from the mortal wound inflicted by this Marine.
These thoughts race through his mind everyday during training, and the question lingers until he has the chance to prove to himself that he can do it. Until he has done it, it is the biggest question he will face, and once it is done, he must be prepared to live with it the rest of his life !

My best friend joined the Marines not even a year ago. He also went for infantry. His boot camp was 13 weeks long. He'll be home this week for a few days then goes back to his base, then off to Iraq in a couple of weeks. Not even a year out of boot camp. The chances of going to war if you're in infantry are very high.

Marine Corps boot camp is 13 weeks long, the longest and most rigerous in the US Military. Following boot camp new Marines get 10 days leave, then go to infantry training (for Infantry MOS's). Following that, you will be assigned a permanent (well, at least temporarily permanent) duty station. From that duty station you will be deployed as needed. If you're infantry and we're at war, you'll go.
There are several books out about Marine Corps boot camp that are exceptional. One by Frank Schaeffer and his son... I forget what that one's called. The other is just called "The Crucible" That's a must-read for any young man looking at USMC Boot Camp.

Marine Corps boot camp is 13 weeks long. After boot camp, you'll go to MCT, military combat training, which is 2 weeks long. Then it's off to MOS school to learn your job. I believe for infantry, MCT might be longer. If you are an 0311 or infantry, your odds of going to Iraq are pretty good. Previously, not all Marines were being deployed to Iraq, but the Commandant is changing that. General Conway is trying to make it so that every Marine is deployed.

USMC Recruit training is 14 weeks long. 13 weeks of actual training and 1 weeks of Admin. There are 70 training days. There are three phases: 1 is drilling and learning the basics, 2 is in Camp Pendleton for Field Week, Rifle Qual, and the 54 hours Crucible, 3 is in San Diego preparing for final drill, Prac-Ap, etc. If you get hurt during this time, you have up to a year to rehab. The quicker to get out the better.
You are guaranteed to go to Iraq if you are in the Infantry.

so which you think of that the infantry are in basic terms crash dummies, do you? guy, you knew little sh*ts are starting to be further and further ignorant and retarded on a daily basis. that is in all probability a competent difficulty which you reported you do no longer want infantry already, considering the fact which you needless to say don't have the stones. you already know that the Marines are approximately braveness, do you? needless to say, you do no longer. I doubt you may even spell the be conscious braveness, much less Honor and dedication while the rounds start up flying at you. in case you opt to be in touch and earnings appreciate, then watch your goddamn mouth once you're speaking on the subject of the Marines who genuinely do the scuffling with that the Corps is so renowned for.

Boot camp in any branch of the military can be quit trying. I have known young men who are normally strong individuals that will be brought not only to their knees but to tears as well.
Like anything else it is not easy and you can not be afraid to give it everything you have despite the physical endurance as well as the mental.
Basic training as far as I can see is to see what you are made of and teach you to stay alive.
Good luck. By the way, 2 son, 11 uncles, 1 brother were all Army and Marines. Mostly Marines.
