Many people will suggest the patch or nicotene gum or some other crutch. It's not needed. Have one last cigarette and then just throw out your pack, tell yourself you won't buy more, and just stop.

Let others know your plans, as many people as necessary, so they can help keep you on track and accountable as well as giving you someone to talk to when it gets bad. Also you can use a phone system for this, many places have quitting smoking hotlines.

Make sure to empty your ashtrays and donate them, then vacuum the house and spray it to get rid of the smell. Trust me if you smoke inside there's a smell.

If you slip up and start smoking again don't kick yourself too much over it, just stop again. They say that each time you've tried to quit before raises your chances of quitting smoking after. So just remember the goal.

There was life before cigarettes and it was good, so keep that in mind. You need to detox, which is annoying, but after a little bit you'll notice you're forgetting the triggers that made you smoke in the first place.

Good luck.

I will tell you what helped me. The first time I quit smoking i used the patch exactly how they tell you and that worked but then my boyfriend at the time now husband upset me and I was so angry I wanted to smoke even though I didn't crave it. So for a year I smoked and when I got married a week later I got pregnant so I had to quit. No if ands or buts about it. I used Smoke Away. They sell it at Wal-mart. It's herbal too so it won't harm you because it doesn't have any chemicals in it. The best thing about it is that you quit in a week. Also you can try Cigarrest.

Just stop, the nicotine is completely out of your system in 3 days. So if you make it 3 days you are no longer addicted to the chemicals. It now is just finding something else to do with you hands because you a beat the addiction. I smoked 35 years and stopped 5 years ago, once that I found out that the chemical addiction could be whipped in 3 days. GOOD LUCK, I know you can do it.

The best way is cold turkey. I don't have the spine so I chew cheap 2mg Wal*Mart brand nicotine gum.

Don't laugh. It's much cheaper than cigs.
