I am myself a Christian. You know in the Bible--->1 Corinthians talking about Love....like Love is patient Love is kind....Do you think anyone can really love like that? My step-dad says that no one can love like that not even God. Because God keeps records of wrongs and gets angered. So does this make any sense to you?

My loving God keeps no records of wrongs and is not easily angered. Where does your step-dad get that info? God showed us the perfect love by sending his only Son to die for all of our sins. John 3:16
I have a love for people that is patient and kind because I have Jesus living through me. I rejoice in His salvation and have peace and joy when I love like I Corinthians.
When I sin, I call on God's grace to forgive me.

Your father is partly right and partly wrong. Yes it is true that in our own strength that we can not love others the way God wants us to love. However, if we are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, and if we ask God to help us, then yes we can love others with the love that God desires for us to share.

Secondly, God does keep records of the things that we do and say. As I understand the Scripture, God is not angered, but he is however grieved by what we do and by how we treat each other.

When we sin there is a record, but when we confess that sin and ask God to forgive us, that sin is wiped out, and God no longer remembers that sin. The only ones that remember that sin is us. We tend to remember the sin, because of our guilt. If we are truly Christians, and only God knows what is in our hearts, God has forgiven every sin that we have ever committed or every sin that we will ever commit in the future. The only sins that God will ever keep record of, are the sins of those who do not, and will not believe in Him.

Well if God was really angry with you then he would diminishes you from the earth so thats not true. God loves you unconditionally so of course he gets angry just like you do but as long as you ask for forgiveness then you are forgiven. I think people can love like that because love takes all those things so in order to love someone it takes patience because you have to learn to deal with the rough patches and the bad times and move forward. Love is kind because when loving someone you care alot about them so love is kind in that way I would assume.

It is the standard that we are to reach for. We are also called to be Christ - like. Obviously we will never be perfect and sinless as Christ was, however we need to "walk in a manner worthy of our calling". We need to daily trust and obey the Word of God.

Salvation though Christ is not a "one time prayer - get out of hell ticket". We are called to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. If we look at that list of what love is in 1 Corinthians it is in the context of using our Spiritual Gifts to serve the Lord.

God knows our weaknesses and so He gives us the model of perfect love that we are to follow and equips us with "instructions on living" in His Word. All we can do is daily be in His Word and follow His instructions to the best of our ability. We will stumble and fall along the way and He is there to pick us up and restore us to a right relationship with Him when we repent and ask for forgiveness.

Hope this helps.

No. You are putting a limit on God, and on the power of love. God is love. -1 John 4:8.
How can you put a limit on God, or on love. It is contrary to the basic teachings.
Makes no sense to me. Perhaps your step dad needs a hug?

God certainly can love like that. He loves me like that. The only way we can love like that is to have the Spirit of God residing in us. I first experienced the Spirit of God coming into me more that 36 years ago when God caused me to be born again, when I was in a state of deep rebellion and darkness. The change that came over me was beyond what words can describe, but the most vivid thing of it all is that it was when I was most hateful and bitter and rebellious towards God that He stooped down to lift me up out of my pitiful wretched state, and He filled me with a love and a peace that I never knew existed.
This is what it says in Romans:
"For while we were still helpless, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for a good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son; much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." (Romans 5:6-10)
John says this: "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." (I John 4:10,11)

You cannot live and give that kind of love, the kind described in I Corinthians chapter 13, until you have first received it from God. Salvation is a gift, that can only be received by sinners, who know how much they need it, and will accept God's testimony of what He has done for them in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God the Father sent His Beloved Son, His equal, and co-Creator of the universe to die for you so you might come to understand the Truth of who He is and the love He has for Mankind, and for you in particular. Ask Him in prayer to reveal this love He has for you, to give you His Holy Spirit, and thank Him for the great gift He gave when He sent what was dearest to His heart, to save you and give you the gift of eternal life.
Then beging to read the Bible - especially the new Testament - start with the Gospel of John. It is his love letter to you.
Peace to you.

We are all being conformed to the image of Jesus. As long as you submit to the will of GOD you will be headed this direction. I have not achieved anything like perfect love but I can clearly see that I am headed that direction.

Grace and Peace.

God does not keep records of wrongs he has forgiven.

For GOD so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. We are not to crucify our sons or daughters. We are called to loVE as brothers in Christ.
