i have a crush on my best guy friend...and everone says he likes me. we hang out A LOT at school. scince were in marching band outside of school during prac. and comp. recently he asked me if i wanted to do a slot with him at the fundraiser for band(manditory). do you think he means it as a date? also if its not should i ask him on a date?

Accept the gig on condition you can buy him a soda afterward. That should cover all bases. You may even want to mention your crush on him. Just make a comment in passing. Something like "hey I could get used to being more than a friend with you". Then see what he does with it...
Good luck. You know most guys chase a girl until she catches him. Just don't run too fast, if you get out of sight, you might get out of mind...

since you are not sure and a) do not want to ruin a friendship B) do not want to be embarrassed C)do not want to embarrass him .......may I suggest you ask him to go somewhere after this fundraiser like a movie or out for a bite? ask him this now so he doesn't make other plans........if he agrees then feel him out, if he doesn't you have time to figure things out...
