Avoid texts written more than 4 years ago. LBJ's official biographer, Doris Kearns, is an unreliable source. She was extensively quoted and referenced in older texts on the Vietnam War. Johnson's theoretics and strategies are paramount in understanding the VN war. Older texts are not reliable in their treatment of Johnson. Stick with the new stuff.

Start with the book a "A Bright and Shining Lie" by John Paul Vann. As far as armament and equipment, I imagine you could find old editions of Jane's Military on the internet or in the local library.

Just watch the current news , they're doing the same thing in Iraq , that they did in Vietnam, pull the troops out, pull the troops out, pull the troops out
Well if I was writing a book on Vietnam, I would go to the V.A. hospitals and talk to the hundreds of vets that are there everyday, they would love to talk to you and tell you their own first hand experiences of the war, some are hospitalized, but most go for semi- annual check ups, you can talk to alot in the smoking areas, they hang around there waiting on appointments, test results, etc. I think there's no better way to write about history , than to talk directly to those who were there, I would love to be able to sit down and talk to Robert E. Lee or Nathan Bedford Forrest about their civil war experiences, but it's to late, I have only the history books
Good luck on your book, and let me know what you name it, so I can read it
