Do you tip someone who grooms your dog?

Don't you tip your hairdresser? I do. Most dogs don't sit there totally still and do eveything the groomer says. And they sometimes try to bite, and sometimes DO bite.
Some dogs have about a million times the hair that you have on your head.
If you were a standard poodle and came in for a trim. I would have to wash,& condition your hair. Clean your ears, express your anal glands if your one of those dogs that needs it. Blow dry your hair. Then file your nails, shave your pretty little poodle feet, which aren't so little. Shave your groin, the base of your tail, and your face. Then pluck your ear hair. then cut and scissor your whole body , and head into a trim that makes you look like a perfect poodle . Which you most likely aren't. And through most of this you are probably not liking at least 60% of what I'm doing to you. And when you pay the bill, you are astonished at the price! Why? Because you don't even pay that much for your own hair to be cut.

Well the next time your hairdresser does everything to you that I just mentioned, you wouldn't be welcomed back to that shop again unless you tipped.
Most groomers work on 50% commission. Would you do all that for half of what you pay?

Now some dogs depending on the breed can be done in an hour to a few hours. But some people just don't understand what goes in to grooming their dog. So Yes, please tip your groomer. you will get much better service and prices if you do.
And I'm sure I speak for many groomers out there.

I go to a more private groomer, not Petsmart or a chain store type place and yes, I tip. I think of it like when I get a hair cut, I tip the hairdresser.

I have Yorkies and they require some pretty specific grooming and knowing that my groomer is doing the right thing with them is important to me, so I usually tip around $4 (15%), the grooming is $27.

Generally, yes. I have a small dog who costs about 40 for gromming and we usually tip 5 - 10 dollars.

I guess it would depend on, if they owned their own shop or if they get paid a commition from the vet...
own = no
commition = up to you and how well they do... or ask another customer.

No I don't think it's necessary. You paid for a service, that should be enough.
