Not eating throughout the day can certainly be harmful. Depriving one's body of the nutrients it needs for good health is an ineffective and potentially destructive way to lose weight. It makes your body think it's starving.Eating at regular intervals is important because it helps keep one's metabolic rate up. If a person goes all day without eating, the body conserves energy and expends fewer calories. If someone is fasting all day, and eating only dinner, that's not enough food and energy for this person. It's virtually impossible to get all the nutrients the body needs in one meal, even if it is balanced.Let your friend know your concern again. You can advice him to do some workouts and also to take a diet supplement(Xenadrine NRG) for energy and weight loss.

Yes, skipping breakfast and lunch is a very bad idea! He needs to jumpstart his metabolism in the morning by having a healthy breakfast. Skipping meals will put your body into starvation mode - the metabolism goes DOWN, making you retain fat, and therefore gain weight. The best way to lose weight is to simply make good food choices. Think of your body as a furnace and food as the logs ... if you're don't feed your body enough, it will burn out. Very unhealthy!

Skipping breakfast and lunch probably won't help. Skipping dinner would be the best, IF hes going to skip a meal. However, he really shouldn't skip meals. If he eats small but healthy portions of food and exercises daily, he should lose more weight.

Bad idea, he needs to eat both B-fast and lunch. He will need his energy and anyway if he were to lose some wieght he will regain it. The body will remember being starved and will store fat for next time it is starved and will gain weight. Its a fact.
