Hm, it sounds like it's a name you say to your co-worker in the construction business. "Hey, Bob! Hand me the wrench!"
Now, ROBERT is a sophisticated name. But perhaps TOO sophisticated.
When writing short stories for my many classes, names are always a toughy. But, I've found that a good book can make a name come to life.
"Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer made the name Edward come to life.
"The Chronicles of Narnia" by the ever good C.S. Lewis made the name Edmund come to life.
"Harry Potter"... must I say more?
I'll admit, if the name "Bob" was a character in a book or a sweet person I knew, I bet I would like the name more. But, now, it's still that construction guy with the wrench.
Sorry!

Yeah it's cool. Why not, it's a name after all meaning it is an identity. You wanna add something to Bob? Make it Bobby or Archbob. Believe it or not, I've a friend known as Archbob. Cool guy really. Besides it's u who makes the difference. The name is associated to you not other way round.
Enjoy your life!

It depends, i think Bob is more of an elderly name... like your grandpa or great uncle.
Not the first name i would pick! Robert sounds so much better and can even be shortened to 'Bob' if you like
