It's not horrible, but the heat causes split ends and damages your hair. If you trim your hair about once a month and use conditioner and leave it in for about a minute, your hair should be fine

Yes !!! I worked in a high end hair and full service salon in Miami for over a year and i saw and learned soo much! if you really MUST straighten your hair then atleast give it a couple days rest in between. also use product specific to blowdrying and heat protection. another really good idea is to WRAP UP YOUR HAIR after you have straightened it. the ladies at the salon would always tell me that this is MUCH better than blow-dry , etc. Look up on the net , there are a lot of websites that will walk you thru this or here on Y! answers. Give your hair a break to keep it healthy. hope this helps!

Not if you have a good straightner, a pure ceramic straightner is the best for your hair, cheap straightners have ceramic coatings that actually wear away over time and aren't as penetrating to your hair as solid ceramic is.

It's also important to get a straightner that gets really hot, like 400 degrees, sounds like hell but actually the hotter your straightner can get, the less time you take to straighten your hair, and you don't have to run the straightner through the same section of hair over and over again like flat irons that only go to 250. Your hair can take heat, but for a short amount of time, so go with a hot straightner.

Hope this helped.

I straighten my hair daily, and it used to cause serious damage and what not, but now I get a trim every 2 monthes or so and I now use Pantene Time Renewal products which really ease and reduce hair damage.

I straighten my hair everyday and yes it can be damaging. After my hairdresser suggest that I use Redkens Heat Glide my hair has never looked better and it works great if you get split ends easily.

Yes. It gets damaged if you straighten it like everyday. Straighten it once a week or twice a week, or only for special occasions.

yes it makes your hair dry and unhealthy. I used to do it all the time without heat protectant and my hair got really damaged it was dry and frizzy and had tons of split ends. When you straighten your hair you get split ends which will eventually make your hair frizzy. You can try to keep it healthy (not dry) by using deep conditioning once a week.

i straighten my hair almost everyday and i know that it CAN be damaging to your hair...but not if you use the right products

when you get a shower use plenty of conditioner bc it will protect your hair from the heat of the straightener

when you get out of the shower apply CHI heat damage prevention conditioner that will protect your hair

if you have any more questions just email me :)

I would say it depends on the flat iron that you use. If it has the new plates, theyre not meant to damage your hair and the more you straighten your hair, the easier it gets.

so no, its not bad.

It can be very damaging if you don't use protecting products and use it on the highest setting. There is a Nexxus product that can be sprayed on wet or dry hair and it doesn't leave your hair oily. But give your hair a break sometimes and embrace your natural hairstyle.
