I like this kid. and Im pretty much positive he likes me. But he is a grade younger than me and not the cliche "hottie" that youd normally find. He is an honest to goodness great guy but all my friends + the entire school would never let us hear the end of it if we dated. Oh and he is a year younger than me .... what should i make of the situation?

Take a chance. You never know what could happen with this. Never let other people stop you from dating anyone. Never let anyone stop you from doing anything. If you like him, go for it. His age and those people dont mean anything. If you don't do, you may mis out or you might always wonder what could have been.

Well, if it was me, I wouldn't care what others think. It is sad that "most" people judge others like they do. So he is not the "hottie", big deal. People are too shallow now a days. They "think" that they have to have the handsome guy or the beautiful gal. But beauty is NOT how someone looks, but how they act and who they are on the inside. You can date the hottest guy or the most gorgeous girl, but if they are stuck up, unfriendly, mean, and are just a bad person on the inside, it's not worth it. As for the age thing, well, there are MANY people that date and or marry at far greater age differences that just a year. I know school days are very tough, but be a better person than EVERYONE else and do what YOU feel is right for you. If you REALLY care for him, then take the chance. If you don't, then you just may miss out on "the one".

social status is important to a lot of highschoolers. You just have to decide if its more important to you than being with a guy that might be whom you are meant for.

My personal advice. Go for it. Otherwise when you grow older you will regret it bitterly. The teasing and talking does end. It will grow into being old news quickly and people will move on to the next scandal leaving you in peace

What does it matter what others think?
You will find as you mature that others opinions are really not important!!

Don't let a nice guy get away because he's younger and don't let friends influence your happiness.

As you get older you will realise how little other peoples opinions really mean.

Do what makes you happy, not what keeps them happy.

You could miss the boat if you don't see if anything could work out with you two.

It sounds like me lol, but seriously, dont let the world hold you back from anything you want to do. And dont let the world influence your decisions, you know what is right and wrong, now go do what you want to do.

Well, go with your heart. I generally like odd people myself. Just don't mind anyone else except you and him. Love is love. Love is strong.

Do not worry what others think or they will dictate your whole life.........If you like him.. go out with him , no one says you have to announce it to the school.........go somewhere out of the norm and see if you really like him.........after you go out.........if you don't like him you can brush it off if anyone finds out.............if you do like him say it proudly!!!
