I chose to lose weight this year but so far I've been stuck in my same old routines. I am depressed.

Here's I can say to your problem, as soon as you wake up in the morning workout for at least 30 min to an hour. Working out in the morning burn up to 3x as more fat as opposed to working out at any other time during the day. During the day your body's main source of energy is the carbohydrates that you get from eating your meals. As you sleep at night for 6+ hours your body uses up all those carbohydrates as energy for various bodily functions that go on even while you sleep. When you wake up in the morning your body doesn't have any carbohydrate as energy to use and it will look to burn body fat instead for energy. To burn more fat add another workout to your daily routine 4-6 hours after your morning workout to make your metabolism go higher and help it by taking Xenadrine EFX a lipolysis stimulator, proven to help break down fat.

Bill,
Have been down that road my man ! I would guess this is not the first year you have made that commitment to yourself only to see it fall through. My question is how much time do you spend thinking about your weight each day ? I guarantee if you were able to count the minutes you spend each day thinking about your battle it would be the same as the time you would need to take action ! Don't beat yourself up over this. Look at this like a challenge you can take and win. I was once 40lbs overweight. I would feel upset and think about it everyday and take no action. One day I figured out the equation that I mentioned to you earlier and started on my quest. I want you to think of one other positive from your soon to conquered challenge. An overweight person that gets them selves in shape usually will have to learn better health habits than a skinny dude that can eat whatever he wants. While they may be thin they are not healthy ! You can do this man! If I could do it so can anybody. Get yourself the Abs Diet book by David Zincenko. I now personal train and recommend it to clients all the time. It is one of the best guides to eating and exercise there is. No fad diet there just sound nutrition and exercise. Good luck and you can e-mail me at dahmi03@yahoo.com for support anytime.

I know how you feel. I've got about 70 or 80 lbs. to lose. I joined weight watchers about 5 weeks ago and I did great the first two weeks (lost 8 lbs). Then I went on vacation and came off of it for that week. Now its ten times harder to get back on track. Here's what I'm trying to do and it helps. Don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon one day, just pick it back up the next day. DON'T QUIT because you think "well I messed it up, its over now." Start your day by going online and reading success stories of other people with your age and weight. If they can do it you can do it. Join a weightloss forum where you can talk about it. Take a before picture and then progress pictures, you'll be amazed how motivated it makes you feel when you see the results photographed. Realize its not going to go away over night and get over it. I am having to realize this myself at this very moment. And find a partner, either a friend, spouse, online pal, someone who can keep you motivated and someone who you can motivate. Last, post your results where people can see them (start a web page or a myspace page dedicated to a new begining). If you know the world is watching that alone might keep you motivated. Make sure you find a healthy eating plan and a exersice that is enjoyable to you. I love weight watchers because it is practical and liveable. And I too am TRYING to get off my butt and start exercising. I think I'm going to try the "Walk away the lbs" to start off. Good luck. Believe in yourself and remeber its not going anywhere on its own. You have to try and it will soon get easier.

Sad to say it, but only you can motivate yourself. At some point you hit bottom, and tell youself, "I am tired of poisoning my body, I want to live." Then you just do it. Find a new lifestyle (because a new diet won't help, it's all about changing your life) that works for your body and GO FOR IT! I weigh myself every morning to remind myself, so if someone waves bad food in my face, I think of my weight and that I don't want to blow it. My husband and I have a picture of us from when we were fat to remind us that we never want to go there again. YOU CAN DO IT! We used the Atkins lifestyle. People say it's not healthy, but these people haven't read the whole Adkins book.

Hey
I started the South Beach diet with my husband last year. He isnt obese but could afford to lose a few pounds. I want to tell you that this worked not only did he lose weight we tracked his blood pressure as well as his parents during the diet and his went down to a normal range.

You really dont have to go out and buy expensive foods. Just for the first 2 weeks cut out your sugars, breads, switch to fat free milk and cheese. Surely cut out food deep fried. Try eating baked chicken, fish, leaner cuts of beef.

If you need anything else feel free to email me back!

Try multi-tasking, if you like to listen to music, go on a walk or something. As for motivation, you can die from being too obese.

On Feb 1, 2007 I was 230 Lbs. I am a male at 5'9" in height. I changed my diet to 6 small meals a day. I eat every 3 hours starting at 7 am with my biggest meal for breakfast about 500 calories then about 350 calories for second meal and decreasing about 50 calories per meal from there. I get a workout IMMEDIATELY BEFORE breakfast, this kickstarts my metabolism, and then I usually eat an apple then oatmeal with whole grain bread and milk. The oatmeal is digested SLOWLY so my boosted metabolism causes my body to digest my bodyfat (at least thats what I've been reading). I incorporate alot of vegetables into my meals, it helps to satisfy my hunger without excess calories, plus they have vitamins galore. Talking about excess calories, I cut out fruit juices, soda, or any liquids other than water and milk. Fruit juices and soda usually contain alot of sugar I find, which your body will use to fuel your body, instead of digesting your food into glucose(sugar), your body will store it as fat. I try to do something anything that will cause me to burn calories, exercise, housework sometimes shadowboxing or exercycling, anything before I eat, this keeps my metabolism up to speed. Planning your meals is important and don't prepare too much food or you might eat it all, a lesson I learned my first week. Self control and planning are critical. It is now March 6, 2007 I weigh 211Lbs, 19 pounds I lost , I still can't believe how easy it is really. 19 pounds shed in 34 days. I feel great , I look so different. People say my skin is so much brighter and I look different and that makes me feel good. I am full of energy and I am so much happier so I must be healthy. Veggies, fruit, whole grains, lean meats and WATER. I am lactose intolerant so I dont get much dairy, just enough milk to get some calcium. Its important to eat, as eating increases your metabolism as well. I must add that my weight loss wasn't immediately apparent as I was gaining muscle mass when I started working out. Muscle is heavier than fat and more muscle means more calories burning throughout the day. Also, less sodium in my diet meant my body shed excess water as well. Don't eat out of a can and don't drink out of a can. Canned foods are usually high in sodium and/or sugar. I didn't have to buy anything special I'm actually saving alot of money, the healthier foods cost far less and tapwater is cheap.(well my water bill is 100 dollars every three months so I'm gonna start drinking the stuff instead of just flushing it down the toilet). Fasting will reduce your metabolism and the amount of sodium in your body, and you will drop weight fast but its all water weight which you gain right back plus more when you start eating again because your metabolism is so low. I wasn't even working out as hard as I could have been, but now that I see how much weight I lost so effortlessly I cranked up my workout routine and I noticed my weight loss slowed down alittle but my girlfriend noticed my muscles are more visible and are getting bigger now. Big Smile on my face.
There is no 1 magic thing that will make the excess weight fall off and stay off, it's a combination of many things. Essentially it is a way of living.

Don't buy Herba-anything they just want to make money off people like us-people who want to lose weight-there are millions of us, thus they see a market for millions of dollars.

Never starve yourself not even for a day, it's very unhealthy. The only reason you lose "weight" is because your body is cannibalising itself and shedding excess water.

I stuck a full length mirror on the wall next to the door that leads to my kitchen, I look at my self and I see that this works and it puts a smile on my face, then when I go eat I have control and enthusiasm to continue this new lifestyle. Sometimes I feel like I'm eating too much, but as long as I stick to my calorie count for the meal the pounds just seem to melt away. I weigh myself every morning before eating and after I use the bathroom, this helps to get a consistant bodyweight and the numbers are always smaller than the day before :)
I also created a chart that has the food groups on it and I put a checkmark in the appropriate box for each meal that I eat, for example I just had a peanutbutter sandwich with 250 ml of skim milk so I put 1 check in the Grains, 1 check in the Milk or alternatives and 1 check in the Meat or alternatives. This is extremely helpful in planning my next meal.
