You need to see a doctor who specializes in Headaches and Pain Management &/or a Neurologist. They will help you determine the causes of your headaches. They will give you strategies and meds to help prevent them. (And strategies and meds to deal with the pain.)
I've also had great results from a Nautropath and an Accupucturist. You can also try Cranio Sacral Therapy.

Aside from pain meds and preventative meds...
I take Vitamin B2 and Magnesium.
I practice meditation and belly breathing. I'm now able to significantly reduce the severity of my migraines through meditation.
I drink lots of water
I eat regularly (I suffer if I go too long between meals.)
I stay away from trigger foods (for me - cheap red wine, chocolate, wheat, aged cheese, processed food, bananas etc.)
I get regular sleep

Good luck.

This is something i grew up in. My mom suffered from them untill it was found that she had low blood sugar. To many "sweets" or carbs would trigger the migraines. Woman have many things that can trigger the migraines, more so than men. As you know stress, your eye sight, computer, smells, just about anything can cause them. But, if you have had them more than 3 days, it may be the same as my mother's issue your eaten habbits. Which was my case as a youth and teen. I grew out of it, but for some like my mother, she grew into it as an adult. I found that strong pain relievers and a very hot shower helped alot. The very warm, almost hot, water pass over your head expands blood veins allowing blood to pass easier, allowing, the meds to reach the much need area. I feel for you! I really do. I hope the Dr. has done blood work and this issue will be resolved. Having seen my mothers pain and feeling mine years ago, I feel for you. My fingers are crossed and will pray. Good luck friend.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

As a healthcare provider I say you need a neurologist. Drugs like Topamax has had good effects for prevention. Have they tried you on beta blocker (like Inderal)? There are options....usually neurologists handle this. I feel the iron pills are not related to the headache. I usually give an injection (like Nubain and Phenergan) for some immediately relief. Imitrex comes in injectable and nasal spray form...sometimes these forms work better than the pills.

I was on imitrex injections becasue mine were so bad that the pill form help but sometimes it would take to long and i would be on the ground holding my head crying for an hour which completely sucked. Also did you try life with out caffinee some are actually caused by that so check that out as well. Hope you get some relife soon.

Try putting a very warm moist towel on your forehead and temples to open the pores. Then rub vicks vapo rub on the area and cover with a towel. Lie down in a dark and quiet room for as long as possible.
This has worked for my family for years. Hope this works for you. Good Luck.

Well stop taking the Iron pills...
But if you take a brown paper bag and cut a small square out of it and roll it up flat, soak it in vinegar.Put a pair of metal ( large ) scissors in freezer and get them very cold. Go into your bedroom, close off any light and no noise. Put the vinegar soaked paper in between your gum and upper lip. Take the frozen scissors and have someone lay them between your shoulder blades and just rest for a few hours..
