I am a High School student and have been doing research on the Lockheed. I want to design jets and just work in creating, designing and working on jets. I love working with a team and alone as well. What job field would this be in? Is it in my best interest to go to college or go to the Air Force and get training there? Does Lockheed require college and if so how many years for this position, but if not can i go into this position straight from the Air Force or should i do both?

You should go to a school for Aerospace Engineering... One of the most reputable schools in the world for this field is Iowa State University. I personally know someone who is making over 100,000 just 2 years out of Iowa State working for Boeing. I would recommend civilian training over the military for something like this.

Go to a college that has Air Force ROTC. Upon graduation you then become an officer in the Air Force. During your stay with the military, you can get any additional training that you might need or want. Afterward, you may then go out and land a good job.

The air force doesn't design jets, they only set requirements and aircraft companies design them. I'm just telling you that you won't get any training for that in the AF.

The depot facilities that handle the particular airframes have structure and systems engineers that handle changes or problems that arise, and they require engineering degrees.
