We have a rescued Havanese - he has been with us for about two years - we got him when he was one. He has a lovely personality - very playful, but also very sensitive - loud voices or visitors can easily upset him. A havanese is a fun dog to have, but requires alot of grooming and training. Our one could not be house trained by his previous owners - you will need alot of spare time and alot of dedication to have a havanese, they need training time, grooming time and playtime on a daily basis. But they are definately worth it - you shouldnt have one if you work full time, they are good companion dogs and require lots of love and attention - in return you get a good friend who will give you lots of attention too. Health wise we have never had a problem with ours - he likes lots of exercise, but is very greedy - so you have to watch what he eats!

I have a shih tzu.. 6 months old. She is very smart and has great manners. No one is a stranger to her. Didn't take her long to get trained. We trained her with the kennel for about 4 months then we let her loose and she's been sleeping with us ever since. She goes riding in the car and loves that too.
I give her a bath at least once a week. You almost have too. I trim the bottom of her feet and the bridge of her nose area. I put the hair on her head on a pony tail holder to keep it out of her eyes. I brush her every couple of days to keep her tangles down..
She is learning to do tricks for snacks and plays really well with her toys.
The only time she has accidents in the house is when another dog is inside with her.. Mostly at someone else's house where another dog is. Not sure how to deal with that yet.

My friend has one. She is 13 years old and has only had to have a tooth pulled. She is healthy and really really layed back....

They love to cuddle and they show their love.

well yes I had a maltese and she was very playfull ,she would sit by the window and bark at people who were outside but very friendly with strangers, she liked getting groomed and was very healthy although too curios. we didnt make her wear a leash so she got used to that and whenever somebody opened the door she would run out and go around the block and across the street
