I went to the dentist which I was terrified, I have an absessed tooth. He gave me a perscription for Clindamycin HCL. I took 2 pills yesterday and woke up in the morning around 4 am with swollen fingers and hands. My wedding rings were so tight it woke me out of a sound sleep. My husband thought I got bit by a spider and we worked on getting my rings off. At that point I had no hives or itching. I took another pill and went back to sleep. I woke up again about 8am swelling more and this time red all over my body. My dentist told me to take benedryl and stop taking the antibiodics. I have but I am now itching like mad on my hands and when I tell you I am red it looks like I am sunburnt. My hands are still swollen and extra swolen on the fingers that had rings. Is there anything I can do to make the itching stop does anyone know what's going on? My throat is not swollen I am fine there just my hands mostly and my ankles. Please help me out with what you know! Thanks.

You are probably having an allergic reaction...Call your Dentist & Dr. They will probably tell you to discontinue the meds...and probably perscibe something different. Major allergies are no fun... I've had anaphylactic reactions before....not a place you want to be....

continue taking the benadryl, your symptoms should start decreasing by morning, if they dont or if they get worse call your MD, they can prescribe meds to help you. If at any time your symptoms worsen and you have difficulty breathing go to the Emergency Dept

If it doesn't go away in a day or two, I suggest going to the doctor. The doctor might have to give something stronger than benedryl.
