Question: What do you have to say about grammar?

Details: How important is it to you? How important is it, according to you, in the education of a person? Is it just a tool that we use to build correct sentences, or is it more than that? If you don't like it, if you don't think that it is important, why don't you? Please, feel free to write anything that crosses your mind regarding this subject.
Thank you.

Thank you all for your answers.
No, I am not a student looking for people to write the essay for him, I am a teacher of English and I have been teaching for 10 years. I just needed to know what other people think about the importance of knowing grammar.
I personally believe that knowing grammar is knowing the matrix and making it work for you. Grammar is a superior form of organizing knowledge. Grammar is not just a tool used to speak correctly, it is a very good exercise for the brain.

As a language arts teacher, it is VERY IMPORTANT! How in the heck are you ever going to write a cohesive, fluent essay if you don't follow basic grammar rules? Many college and job applications will ask you to hand-write an essay about yourself. If you don't write following the standard, formal rules of writing, your application may be overlooked and you will lose out.

When I grade papers, I always fix grammar mistakes with my red pen. As much as I don't like having to spend 20-25 minutes on one paper, I have to do in order to help my students. I have 90 students that I have to shape into fluent writers. It is worth every red mark that I make when, by the end of the year, my students are writing in subject-verb agreement, spelling correctly, etc.

If you are a teacher, here's a bit of advice ---> stagger your writing assignments between classes so you won't have to spend your entire life checking papers for two weeks at a time!
