if those are RMS ratings, be careful not to turn up your speakers too high because you might blow your subs.
Alot of things factor into how your subs will sound. One of the first things is of course the amp. Getting enough power to your subs is very importnat. While we're on the amp, make sure your low pass filter is on, and that your frequencies are set properly. For subs, somewhere between 80-100 Hz is where you want to be. make sure that your gain and dB boost isn't too high either, it might make the sub crackle which is not a good thing.
Next is your box. Each sub has a specific box requirement, meaning that any given sub as a volume requirement. Also, the type of box you use will cater to the kinds of music you listen too. Sealed boxes are good for rock and jazz. The give you a great kick drum type bass. Bandpass boxes are good for rap and hiphop for long deep drawn out bass. Ported boxes are somwhere in between.
lastly, the head unit plays a bigger role than you might think. make sure that settings are also set properly on your head unit. If you have an EQ and crossovers built-in, tune those to your liking. If you want more specifics on how to tune it, crutchfield.com is a great place to learn how. make sure that your head unit has proper settings.
It could also be the brand of sub and amp. Each company has sublte differences and those differences can be pick apart by brand name conscience people and audiophiles.
hope this helps a bit!

I did some shopping for you on ebay and I found you a really nice deal on an alpine amp. They have always made really nice amps, they are really stay cool and produce a good constant power flow. buy a stiffening cap, if you dont hold a constant voltage it will never sound amazing as you say.just think of the drain in power every time you hit that bass note as a glass of water, the louder you get it(more you drink),the more it takes the alternator to(fill it back up).
