it depends on what kind of sloppy joe you wish to make, here are a few recipes to give a better idea ^_^

Sloppy Joes

- 1/2 to 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 ( 11 ounce) can chicken gumbo soup
- 2 Tbs catsup
- 2 Tbs dry mustard
- Pepper to taste

Brown meat;drain well.
Add remaining ingredients.
Simmer 30 to 40 minutes.
Spoon onto lightly toasted hamburger buns or
English muffins, open face, style. Serves 2-4

Super Sloppy Joes

Servings: 8

Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 celery ribs with leaves, chopped
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 2/3 cups canned crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon steak sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon paprika
8 hamburger buns, split


Directions:
1. In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook beef, onion, celery and green pepper until the meat is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender; drain.

Add the next nine ingredients; mix well.

Simmer, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Spoon 1/2 cup meat mixture onto each bun.


Texas Style Sloppy Joes

1 pound ground beef
1 package sloppy joe mix
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 can (4 ounces) green chiles, chopped
8 hamburger rolls or flour tortillas
shredded cheese, optional

1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef. Drain fat.

2. Add Sloppy Joes Seasoning mix, pinto beans, tomato sauce, ketchup
and chiles. Cover and simmer 10 minutes.

3. Serve over hamburger rolls or place 3 tablespoons mixture along
center of 8 warmed flour tortillas; garnish with shredded cheese, if
desired. Fold over edges of tortillas.


Easy Barbecued Sloppy Joes *

Serves 4

Ingredients:

- 1 pkg. (16 oz.) frozen Pure Ground Turkey, thawed
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped red pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup Barbecue Sauce
- 4 hamburger buns, split

1. COOK turkey in large nonstick skillet until cooked
through; drain.
Add peppers and onion; cook and stir until tender.

2. ADD barbecue sauce; cook until thoroughly heated,
stirring occasionally.

3. FILL buns with turkey mixture.


Sloppy Joes
Servings: 8

Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 cup water
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper


Directions:
1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute the ground beef for 5
minutes. Add the onion and red bell pepper; saute for 5 more minutes, or until
onion is tender. Drain the fat.
2. Mix in tomato paste and water, stirring until paste is dissolved. Stir in
garlic, chili powder, paprika, cumin, vinegar, brown sugar, oregano, salt and
pepper. Continue to heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until mixture is thick and
stewy.


Crockpot Hot And Spicy Sloppy Joes

1 1/2 lb Ground beef
1 lg Onion, chopped (1 cup)
1 Clove garlic, minced
1 6-oz can hot-style tomato juice or vegetable
cocktail
1/2 c Catsup
1/2 c Water
2 tb Brown sugar
2 tb Chopped canned jalapeno peppers (optional)
1 tb Prepared mustard
2 ts Chili powder
1 ts Worcestershire sauce
8 Hamburger buns Shredded cheese


In a large skillet cook ground beef, onion, and garlic
till meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain off fat.

Meanwhile, in a 3 1/2 or 4 quart crockery cooker
combine tomato juice, catsup, water, brown sugar,
jalapeno peppers, mustard, chili powder and
Worcestershire sauce. Stir in meat mixture. Cover;
cook on low heat setting for 10-12 hours or high heat
setting for 3-5 hours. Toast buns; spoon meat mixture
over buns and sprinkle with cheese.
Serves 8.

For 5 or 6 quart crockery cooker: Double all
ingredients. Prepare as above. Makes 16 servings.

For 1 quart crockery cooker: Omit water. Use 1 pound
ground beef; 1 medium onion, chopped; 1 small clove
garlic, minced; one 6 oz can hot-style tomato juice;
1/4 c catsup; 1 TBSP brown sugar; 1 TBSP chopped
canned jalapeno peppers; 2 tsp prepared mustard; 1 tsp
chili powder; 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce; 4 or 5
hamburger buns; and shredded cheese. Prepare as above.
Cook for 6-10 hours.

Makes 4-5 servings.


Sloppy Joe Squares

2 lbs lean ground beef
or ground turkey ***
1 small onion
1 - 15 ounce can tomato sauce
5 1/2 tsp sloppy joe seasoning mix
(about one half of a 1.5 oz pkg)
1 - 8 ounce pkg (8 each) refrigerated
crescent rolls
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
1 tbsp milk

Preheat the oven to 425. Grease a 3 quart
rectangular baking dish. Set this aside

In a large skillet, cook beef or turkey and the onion
until meat is brown. Drain off fat.

Stir in the tomato sauce and the sloppy joe seasoning
mix. Bring to boiling, reduce the heat. Cover and
simmer for 5 minutes.

Press on can of the crescent roll dough into prepared
dish to cover the bottom of the dish. Sppon meat
mixture over the dough in the dish. Sprinkle with the
cheese. Seperate the remaining can of roll dough into
the triangles. Place on top of the cheese. Brush with
cheese.

Bake, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Serve hot.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound ground beef or cube steaks, chopped
1 medium onion
1 1/2 tablespoon Flour
2/3 cup ketchup
3/4 cup Coca-Cola or Pepsi or RC Cola
2 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon dry mustard
salt & pepper to taste

PREPARATION:
Chop onion and brown with steaks in skillet. Remove and set aside when done. Drain excess fat. Mix remaining ingredients well, then cover and simmer for 40 minutes. Serve sloppy Joes on hamburger buns with the sauce.

I like sloppy joes. and I found an easy way to make them. You can use onion only if you want. Then brown up some ground beef with the onion. Or not. after if is browned, drain the grease. Add bbq sauce of your choice and some ketchup. Mix together and put on buns or bread or anything you want.

This recipe was my husband and kid's favorite! Although I prefer a sloppy joe not so sweet. I believe it is a Campbells soup recipe originally but I may have altered it.

Sloppy Joes

1 lb. grd. beef
1 can tomato soup
1/4 c. ketchup
1/8 t. mexican spice
1/8 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. onion powder
1/4 t. garlic powder
2 t. chili powder
salt & pepper to taste

INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
3/4 cup ketchup
3 teaspoons brown sugar
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and green pepper; drain off liquids.
Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Sloppy Joes

1 pound lean ground beef
2 to 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup prepared French onion soup
Yellow mustard
4 slices white bread
1 medium onion, cut into rings

In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef and drain. Return ground beef to skillet and sprinkle in 2 to 3 tablespoons flour. Add onion soup, stir, and cook until meat mixture is thickened and most of the liquid is absorbed. Spread mustard on white bread, spoon ground beef mixture onto bread and top with onion.

Super Sloppy Joes

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
1 1/4 pounds ground beef sirloin
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon steak seasoning blend, such as McCormick brand Montreal Seasoning
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small red bell pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 crusty rolls, split, toasted, and lightly buttered
Garnish: sliced ripe tomatoes, pickles, Deviled Potato Salad, recipe follows

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil and meat to the pan. Spread the meat around the pan and begin to break it up. Combine brown sugar and steak seasoning. Add sugar and spice mixture to the skillet and combine. When the meat has browned, add onion and red peppers to the skillet. Reduce heat to medium and cook onions, peppers, red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce with meat for 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce and paste to pan. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to simmer and cook Sloppy Joe mixture 5 minutes longer. Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, pile sloppy meat onto toasted, buttered bun bottoms and cover with bun tops. Serve with your favorite sides or sliced tomatoes seasoned with salt and pepper and dill pickles.

tomato sauce, salt, pepper, garlic(powder or clove) little catsup, littler mustard, Chili sauce, little sugar, little chili powder and onions. I also will add a little quick oats of it is too liquidy to stay on the bun with out dripping.

I use pickle relish, mustard, ketchup or barbecue sauce, onion and a tablespoon of horseradish.
