besides get into shape, memorize the phonetic alphabet, learn the 11 general orders of a sentry, maybe practice ironing long sleeved shirts, and making beds with 45 degree corners? Stuff that won't necessarily make you stick out, but would probably make life easier.

Get physically fit before going to boot camp. You will need to be able to run a mile and a half without stopping several times in boot camp plus all the other running you will be doing while there. You will also need to go about 75 situps and the same for push up's. You will need to be able to do real push up's not the ones on your knees or with your butt up in the air. Real all the way down and back up push up's. Also, don't sleep with all the guys you work with. This WILL end things for you. You are joining the Navy for a reason, don't mess it up by ho-ing around. You will understand more about this when you see it, don't be one of those girls. Also, go to a ship. It is awesome and you will have a great time. Shore duty sucks and it is super super boring. No matter what anyone tries to tell you, you DO want to go to a ship. The ship isn't out to sea 24/7, 365. You spend tons of time in port and when you do go to sea you DO get to see the world. Hawaii, Australia, the world. The Navy is super fun and you will have a lifetime of cool experiences, but only if you take them. If you want to live a boring life, stay at home and work at some store or something, but you will never have the fun you will have if you take the full opportunities the Navy will offer you. Also, save your money. You will be rich if you do. Don't buy a new car or any car if you can help it. Let your shipmates blow their money and you can use them for their car. Put your money in the bank and save it, you will become rich very quickly. Contribute to the TSP - thrift savings plan. Study hard for whatever job you choose. That is the only way to make the next paygrade. Read everything that is going to be on your advancement exam, don't listen to other people, the questions come right from the books you will read for the exam. That should help you out a lot. Good luck.

It's a two year age gap, there are many that exist that way. Lots of older teens date 20-somethings. But you act like you're old enough to be his mother or something. You're 21, not 35. You're the same age as him practically, like it or not. A two year age difference is only noticable in elementary school. It's not like you're a big 4th grader and he's a little 2nd grader. You're both young adults.

Learn to obey orders without question. Start to run everyday.....Push ups, Sit ups, Learn to make a bed in one minute....Check your study habits.....The Navy is all about school the first year.....Learn to scrub a floor to the point one can make it look like a mirror.....Learn to act positive at all times....Learn to wake up at 4:45 in the morning and appear to be wide awake. One must go from zero to sixty in one half second in the morning. Learn to like the Navy food. That's easy. The food is good. Enjoy and good luck.
