First of all, there are many chis in shelters. I adopted a small dog from a shelter and his "quality" was... well, he probably would not have been a show dog... but his personality was incredible! Also adopting an adult dog, you know the full grown size and temperament.
Put in your zip code in petfinder for chihuahuas near you.
Second, here are a couple web listings..... it's a start.
Third, the best place would be recommendations from the Chihuahua Club.

i can give you a listing out of the dog show cataloge that comes from a Texas show in Amarillo. William & Odebt Massey 3310 S Calhan Hwy, Yoder Co. 80864. the dog show was called High Plains Cluster. i hope this helps this listing is for a smooth coat
