Does anybody have the newest research on infusing blood.. Specifically research saying whether you are supposed to use a 20G IV or if it can be smaller? Thanks!

It has been an established protocol to use a 20 G needle or bigger for blood transfusion as the previous researches had proved that there is risk of hemolysis by using small size needles required for delivery of blood transfusion. To my knowledge, there are no new researches which has proved in contrary to such existing theory.

it is better to have gauge 20, but if its not possible a g 22 should be okay..
