Do you have an overbite? Is it your front teeth where the brackets are breaking? Sometimes, with an overbite you bite down onto your braces which causes the brackets to break. But no, it is not normal for it to happen all the time.

Since you have to go see your ortho asap anyway (to fix the bracket) ask what is going on. It is a pain in the butt to have to keep going back to the ortho everytime you eat dinner! Maybe they need to be moved a little bit. My orth "built up" my bite. They put this hard tooth like stuff on the top of my lower molars. That way, when I bite down, I don't hit my brackets and break them.

I never had a bracket brake loose. Are you eating the correct foods? Don't take bites out of food. Always cut food into bite size pieces, which means that you may have to sacrifice some of your favorite foods. You should never take bites. After cutting the food into small pieces, chew it with your back teeth. Don't use your front teeth for chewing or biting.

Maybe the cement wasn't dry yet? The only time I ever had brackets break was when I ate hard or chewy, gooey foods. Talk to your orthodontist for sure.

I've only broken a couple brackets, usually when I'm gnawing on really hard things.

So, yes brackets sometimes break, but they shouldn't be breaking too often when your not chewing on hard things.
