when do you as the teacher work as an observer, and how do you use those observations? can you give an example how you let children learn from natural consequences? or how do you implement logical consequences to help the children learn from thier actions?

When i used to work in a head start preschool we were observers all of the time. That is what we had to do. though there are many children in our care at any given time we need to keep an eye on all of them.

We look for any and everthing; social behaviors, interactions, motor skills, speech, even signs of emotional and physical abuse.

Children learn through play. anything dangerous is interviened immediately (climbing on tables, fighting, biting) some of the other things we can tell them but they have to see for them selves. Like building blocks too high will cause them to fall. Sometimes preschoolers can not comprehend until they see such things.

They also learn about acceptable behaivor. Like if you hit or bite someone, you will be punished. You will be told your action is wrong, recieve a time out, and if it continues, you will loose privilages such as free play time, tv time, or even outside time.

Most of the time these methods are successful, other times when these methods do not work, it is possible that there is a disorder of some sorts like emotional or physical or developmental
