they used to date but it did not pan out. they swear it was no big deal but she occasionally still mentions him. i am scared to tell her how i feel but i do like him. what should i do?

That depends on if your friend still likes him. I'm sure you've talked about dating each other's exes before. My friends and i always had rules that we'd never touch the other person's guy, UNLESS we said it was ok. So you need to ask her and have this convo if you havent already

Make sure you ask her how she feels about him. If you guys are close then you should be able to tell if she is being serious or acting like it really isnt a big deal. If you start talking to him she may start to get jealous so make sure you clear it with her first.

Tell her the truth. And if she's okay with it, date him. And if not, be a good friend, and find someone else. But by no means go behind her back and do it, it will make her feel hurt, and betrayed by you.

If you are good friends ( and speak to one another) you should ask her if she still thinks about him..
Then ask her if she minds you talking with him. Tell her you like him...
Sometimes honesty saves a lot of problems later on.

Girl, of course you can talk to him. gee its not a sin, and if your friend is not happy with that occuring I think you need to find a new friend.
Have a chat with her, you may find that she does not like him anymore and she is mentioning him for your benefit???
But if your such good friends, why are you
1) Trying to get with her ex, and
2) Keeping it a secret from her?
Think about that!

as her friend, you should tell her before doing anything, just because its the right thing to do. and if shes your friend, you shouldnt be scared because friends can tell each other anything. and even if she says no, just remember there are a ton of other guys out there.

I would talk to them both. Ask him if he likes you. Ask her if she likes him. If he does and she doesn't then go for it. If she does like him, tell her how you feel about him and then go for it if he likes you as well. Dont keep it a secret, thats the worst you can do.

think about if it's worth risking a friendship over
ask your friend before dating him
if she feels its ok, that means she's really your friend and a little thing like that won't bother her too much and she's able to move past it

Just tell her you like him she probaly wont mind. Ive got 2 devil sisters and belive me i know what im talking about. She should be fine with it. and if not why is she caring.
