How do I find out information about a canvas painting i have ?

You can submit it to Christies auction house web site and they can research it for you.

Take a picture of it to a local gallery and ask if they know anything about the painting or the artist. You can also web search to see if the artist is still alive or where they lived and contact the archivist of their work. Good Luck!
