and then you go out on another date with him. It's just a regular date, not getting back together. You admit to him that you have slept with somebody else. He's not mad, but still feels like you cheated on him, even though you weren't together at the time. He says it's okay and thanks you for telling him. Yet, he says he still wants to date other people. My question is, Does he have the right to feel cheated on when he doesn't want to be with me, but just go on dates with me and other people?

Why would you want to "just date him?" Try not spread it around so easily - you will have a lot more respect for yourself (and if you do, don't go telling everyone - even just your ex). I'm sure your ex and his friends, who of course he told, are all calling you a s l u t at this moment.

Yes, a double standard, but unfortunately that is still the way it works. But, no - he has no right to feel like you cheated on him, especially since he's the one who broke it off.

He said he wanted to date other people because now he feels that since you have been "vindictive" in his mind, he needs to relatiliate and most likely sleep with someone else too. The good thing is, you two might get together, but only after he most likely sleeps with someone else first... which seems very sad to me.

Nobody has any right to put the blame on you for what they feel. How can you take responsibility for that??? His reactions are probably more related to his upbringing than his time with you anyway. Forget it. I wouldn't waste time getting deep and meaningful with him about it, but if he starts trying to ride you about it, tell him where to get off.

Let's get this right. If you're not attached, you have the freedom to do what pleases you. One the other hand, if you both are back together, you owe it to each other your actions thus its not advisable for him or you to go on dates with others.

Sounds like he doesn't want to make a commitment to you. If you don't either, then that's probably fine. But if you want to be in a serious monogamous relationship, you'll have to talk to him.
