My kitten used to go that. She got older and stopped...then I missed her doing it. Now she's gone and my best memory is of how she always liked to be around people and followed them everywhere.

Perhaps this kitten was taken from it's mother cat before the age of 8 weeks. The poor little thing might be hungry when it behaves that way or it might be overly dependent because of some illness. Have the animal checked by a veterinarian to rule out any type of physical problems. Anyway, why would you want to close the kitten out? If you do not have time or space for an affectionate little kitten, give it to someone who does.

If he is really driving you nuts...you can try using a water squirt gun, don't soak him, just the surprise of the attack will probably work. {if you ever use it to play with him then it won't be effective as a teaching tool again}
You can also try {and this is a better long term solution} giving him a special toy as you shut the door to the room.
Take the toy away when you come out, or it could be a little fresh catnip--just something special that he ONLY gets when he is outside that door.
I have one of that cat's brothers and I think that some of these cats are just hard cases, nothing stops him! lol
I rescued him as a sick baby {3 weeeks old} from a feral colony & at 2 years old he still demands to be rocked to sleep! Seriously, rocked like a baby, and he'll even wake me up at night if he feels he needs to be rocked, I just hold him & roll back & forth til he falls asleep again.
You can turn that attachment into something positive; I find these type of "clinging vine" cats learn tricks easier b/c they do want to please you. Rambo learned to play fetch as well as a few other tricks when he was a tiny kitten.
He talks to me all the time, if his fav mouse gets stuck some place he can't reach {like under a door & in a closet} he will stand in front of that place & talk to me until I allow access to it. If I ask him where his mouse is, even if he is asleep he will wake up & run and find it!
Do get your cat neutered as it makes for a better, calmer cat and reduces his chance of certain cancers.
In the meantime, if he is so attached to you take advantage of it & teach him some tricks!

Like it or not you are his family now and he's still needs company. He's never really been alone since birth. He'll become more independant as he grows. Give him what he needs right now which is your attention and approval. There may come a day when he actually not only stops requiring your attention but only gives you attention when the dish is empty. They grow up fast so enjoy it while you can. Give him something to play with. Hang a string off a door knob or get him a toy mouse.

Leave all the doors around you house a tiny bit open. After awhile, he'll realise nothing to interesting is happening, and be less interested. You will need to leave your door open where you sleep, or else he'll wake you up every five minutes to go in or out...
Haven't you ever heard curiosity killed the cat? Thats not totally fiction.

Your kitty has "separation anxiety," but he'll grow out of it as he matures. He is only a kitten and right now, YOU represent security. If you force him to stop, his anxiety wil just get worse. Carry him around the house as much as you can and do not lock him out of a room that you are in. You need to reassure him that you will not leave him. Carry him around when you go from room to rom; set him down by you to play when you are busy doing something, feed him and when he is sleepy, put him in his cat carrier to sleep. An enclosed warm and cosy place is very comforting to kittens. In fact, if you are particularly busy and cannot attend to him, put him in his cat carrier. He'll just go to sleep.

I have two dogs that follow me all day long. It gets draining but they love me and consider me the leader I guess. Maybe the kitten is insecure and misses its mother. Just live with it for awhile maybe he will grow out of it, besides how can you resist a cute little fluffy kitten?

It's just that your cat is needy. he really wants a lot of attention and there isn't much you can do about it. Probably the best thing you can do is to get another cat to keep your cat company so he leaves you alone. You have one of those rare cats who really craves attention and there is no way to change his personality.
