I'm looking for ice cream cake ideas. My daughter loves ice cream cake so she asked me to make her one for her birthday. We do not have a Dairy Queen where we live so that is not an option(I wish it was!!)
Thanks!!

Two layers- Vanilla on the bottom, a layer of crushed oreo's, and chocolate graham crackers in the middle, chocolate on top, thin layer of fudge on top, "Happy Birthday" in strawberry script.

All the different chain grocery stores here have those in the bakery dept. But they're super easy to do yourself. Just bake whichever flavor cake, freeze after done cooling out of pan, fill same pan with slightly softened ice cream, again your choice. freeze ice cream in pan. Dip pan with frozen icecream in hot water, dump ice cream block onto serving board, top with frozen cake. Freeze again. Frost, then freeze until ready to serve.
You can use ANY cake/ ice cream/frosting flavor/type and also sorbet or sherbet is a fun alternative.
hint: A loaf pan works best as it keeps the icecream more compact and hence frozen longer once it's time to blow out the candles!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Cake
Vary this dessert by using different flavors of ice cream.

INGREDIENTS
1 (18 ounce) package small chocolate chip cookies
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1 cup hot fudge topping
2 quarts vanilla ice cream
1 cup whipped cream
12 cherries
DIRECTIONS
Crush half the cookies (about 20) to make crumbs. Combine crumbs with melted margarine and press into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan or pie plate. Stand remaining cookies around edge of pan. Spread 3/4 cup fudge topping over crust. Freeze 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, soften 1 quart of ice cream in microwave or on countertop. After crust has chilled, spread softened ice cream over fudge layer. Freeze 30 minutes.
Scoop remaining quart of ice cream into balls and arrange over spread ice cream layer. Freeze until firm, 4 hours or overnight. To serve, garnish with remainder of fudge topping, whipped cream and cherries.

Easy Oreo Ice Cream Cake
This is always a favorite and it is extremely easy, almost TOO easy! Perfect for summer or birthdays.
15-20 servings 20 min 20 min prep

1 container Cool Whip
1 (1/2 gallon) container mint chocolate chip ice cream
1 package Oreo cookies

Allow the ice cream to melt in a large bowl till it is just a thick, soupy mixture.
Crush the entire package of Oreos in a food processor.
Mix the melted ice cream and the cool whip together.
Take a 9 by 13 pan and layer the Oreos and the ice cream mixture.
Start with the ice cream and then add Oreos then the ice cream and so on.
Put it in the freezer over night or at least 8 hours covered in plastic wrap and then serve with dribbled chocolate sauce on top.

3 Ingredient Ice Cream Sandwich Cake
This makes a delicious dessert that looks great! I saw it in Woman's Day magazine and they called for using Whoppers candy, but I used Oreos in mine. Cook time is for the 6 hour freeze time (but it may not take the full 6 hours for the cake to freeze firmly).
10 servings 6¼ hours 5 min prep

12 ice cream sandwiches, unwrapped
1 (6 1/2 ounce) can chocolate whipped cream
1 cup chopped Oreo cookies (or chopped Malted Milk Balls)

Arrange 4 ice cream sandwiches long sides touching on a serving plate.
Squirt an even layer of whipped cream over top.
Scatter with 1/3 cup chopped Oreos or Malted Milk Balls.
Repeat layers 2 times, garnishing top with a few larger chunks of Oreos or Malted Milk Balls.
Freeze 6 hours or until firm.
Slice to serve.
May be frozen for up to a week.

Copycat Dq Ice Cream Cake
Posted in response to a thread. I asked the sweet gals at our local DQ about making these cakes. This is it. Simple as it may seem, this is exactly the recipe. The three hours is freezer time.
8-12 servings 3½ hours 30 min prep

2 quarts of your 2 favorite flavors ice cream, softened (DQ uses chocolate and vanilla)
1 (1 lb) package chocolate sandwich style cookies, crushed (Oreos)
1 (11 3/4 ounce) jar microwavable chocolate fudge topping
12 ounces non-dairy whipped topping

Butter the cake pan of your choice, then press wax paper over the bottom of the pan.
Allow one of the flavors of ice cream to soften, then spread one flavor on the bottom of pan until the pan is almost half full.
Sprinkle with crushed Oreo cookies.
Heat the hot fudge in the microwave until pourrable; let cool slightly then spoon hot fudge sauce over the top of this. Set in freezer until frozen.
Fifteen minutes before removing the pan, soften the second quart of ice cream. Smooth it evenly with the top of the cake pan. Return to the freezer and freeze until very hard.
Remove from freezer and frost with a mixture of equal parts vanilla ice cream and thawed frozen whipped topping beaten together. Return to freezer until serving time.

Cake Batter Ice Cream
I recommend using Splenda instead of sugar since there is sugar in the cake mix. You can use 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract if you please. You can also use 3/4 cup of cake mix. THIS RECIPE IS TO USE WITH AN ICE CREAM MAKER (MINE IS BY CUISINART)
10 1/2 cup servings 30 min 5 min prep

1 cup whole milk, well chilled
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 cups heavy cream, well chilled
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2/3 cup cake mix

Place freezer bowl of ice cream maker into the freezer. It is better to keep it in there 24/7 that way it is always ready.
In a medium bowl, whisk the milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla to taste.
Stir in cake mix, making sure there are no lumps.
Pour mixture into the freezer bowl and let mix until it has thickened (about 25-30 minutes).
Remove ice cream from freezer bowl and place into a separate container.
Place freezer bowl and the ice cream into the freezer to further harden.

Brownie Ice Cream Cake recipe

1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup plus 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup flour
1 pint good quality coffee or other flavored ice cream
2 pints good quality chocolate or other flavored ice cream
1/2 cup heavy (whipping) cream
Garnish: warmed chocolate sauce, maraschino cherries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch pie plate.

Microwave the chocolate and water in a medium bowl on HIGH for 50 seconds; repeat at 10 second intervals until chocolate is melted and smooth. Scrape the mixture into a medium bowl. Add butter and beat with mixer on medium speed until smooth and glossy. Beat in the 1/2 cup sugar, then the eggs. Scrape down the side of bowl and beat in vanilla extract, baking powder and baking soda.

Reduce mixer speed to low and beat in flour just until blended. Spread evenly in the prepared pie plate. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out with moist not wet crumbs sticking to it.

Place on a wire rack and when cool enough to handle, about 15 minutes, hold pie plate still and gently rotate brownie with your thumbs until it loosens from pie plate. (this makes serving easier) With a metal spoon, scoop soft brownie mixture from center, leaving a shell about 1/4 inch thick. Loosely wrap scooped out brownie, place in center of pie plate, wrap pie and freeze at least 1 hour or up to 1 month.

Remove scooped out brownie. Spread coffee ice cream over bottom of pie shell Sprinkle with about half the scooped out brownie. Cover and freeze until firm, at least 1 hour.

Spread with chocolate ice cream. Cover and freeze at least 3 hours or up to 1 week.

About 1 hour before serving, beat heavy cream with remaining 2 teaspoons sugar until stiff peaks form when beaters are lifted. Spread over ice cream, or spoon whipped cream into a decorating bag fitted with a star tip and pipe around edge. Garnish with remaining scooped out brownie, the warmed chocolate sauce and maraschino cherries. Return to freezer until 30 minutes before serving, then transfer to refrigerator so ice cream can soften slightly.

Serves 10.

You can find recipes on different sites. I know my aunt made one with mint chocolate chip, I don't have the recipe here, otherwise I would send it. Try allrecipes.com.
