We are looking for something affordable, and dependable, and we would like to be able to tow my corolla with it. used is fine but newer. Any suggestions on a make and model and price range.

When I got pregnant, my husband started shopping for an SUV type vehicle as well. He based his searches on affordability and safety and in the end he bought me a 2006 Ford Explorer. I don't know much about cars but he said it was very very safe. (For me and the baby) You may want to look one up. With a military discount and some barganing, we got ours for about 15,000 off the sticker price.

I would look into the Explorer, it's the leader in towing in it's segment, although has the 3rd row power foldaway seats as well, and the 4.6L V8 was rated as one of Ward's 10 Best Engines. Insurance is pretty inexpensive since it's also rated highest in government crash testing tests, and has Stabililty Control System with Roll Sensor Control to prevent rollovers.

Hope this helps...

My view? JEEP. Go Jeep. Jeep is the only REAL SUV. Most of these so called SUVs arent nothing but vans with big tires. Most arent even 4wd and wouldnt be able to tow a big wheel much less your Corolla. Go with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I know a few people with Tahoes and I hear only good things about them, I have a Durango and I do not recommend that. It is nice to drive and small enough to get around like a car but on average less than 15 mpg. good luck

Ford Escape, Explorer, and Expedition (regular AND EL) are all good, but i actually prefer the new crossover the Ford Edge. all are safe, reliable, and good on insurance. all (except the escape) are rear wheel drive with roll stability control.

escape starts in the low 20's, explorer, low 30's, expedition around 40. edge is mid twenties to mid thirties, depending on equipment.

I have a chevy trailblazer and it's an excellent vehicle and should be able to tow your corolla, they already have the trailer hitch receiver on them.

Honda Pilot
Toyota Highlander
Lexus RX300
Nissan Pathfinder
Toyota 4-Runner

Avoid FORDs, GMs & Chrysler.... they all suck and are unsafe.
