Are you thinking of a Catahoula? The Catahoula Leopard Dog is a distinct breed. A border collie/blue heeler is simply a crossbreed (or mutt). You can dress it up with a fancy name if you want and whose to say differently?

Its called a cattle collie dog. Any australian heeler (blue-red heeler, australian heeler, halls heeler, QLD heeler) cross border or bearded collie. Its a recognised American Hybrid Canine Club breed. If, like me, you are an aussie, then you have probably never heard of a catahoula leopard dog. You are probably refering to the 'cute' names people use to call their mutts. I have heard it called a 'colleeler' before, which is quite a pretty name for quite a pretty dog.

It's Catahoula Leopard dog and no your dog is not one. You have a border collie/blue heeler cross or mix, AKA mutt. Catahoula is a breed by itself that originated in Louisiana. There is nothing wrong with a mix, they normally make the best pets.
