If you own a Malamute you can expect not to be able to bring a new dog/cat into your home....Malamutes are often (not always) only in a one animal home. It will hunt the cat, and dominate the other dog -fiercely. A gentle breed to humans, but have a tendency like their husky cousin, to take off from home every chance they get...Need a 7ft fence for this guy!
I have a German Shepherd...purebred. American show. A great dog. But it takes alot of time and effort in training. and consistent training is a must! I hired a trainer to come in once a week to help me in my technique. I recommend you read the books from the Monks of New Skete. They are monks in NY state who have raised GSD over the last 30 years...they are known as experts in the field...Great read too, for any dog owner.
Dobermans are a one man dog...they usually attach themselves to one person in the household. They too need consistent training.
Just read alot. They are three great breeds. The effort you put into research and talking to good solid breeders, will pay off with a good dog.
...and interview trainers in your area. The price you pay is worth it to get the training techniques down pat....Both the Doberman & GSD will need the type of training and corrections that the Monks at New Skete teach..

Wish I could help you, but you really have to make the choice. Mals are great dogs, and trainable, but you have to know how to motivate them.
Dobies are also great, but scare people more.
GSDs are hard. It is so hard to find a good breeder these days. I've met so many GSDs that either were structural train wrecks or emotional basket cases.
Personally, go visit breeders of every breed. Talk to them, meet the dogs. Go with the one you feel the most in tune with.

If you like the looks of the Malamute, but the trainability of the GSDs, get a Malamute/GSD mix. They are not that uncommon and they are usually drop dead gorgeous dogs that look somewhat like wolves. If you go on www.petfinder.com and do a breed search for Alaskan Malamutes, they will pull up the ones near you and you'll probably find some mixed with German shepherd. Gorgeous dogs! First get a book on each dog.
That will give you a point to start with. Next, view the dogs in person at a local breeder. Ask questions.
All 3 dogs will be great so picking one might be hard but no matter which one you decide on, you will be content!

I have had all 3 breeds of dogs and they all have their best features.
Mals are just as protective as any dobie.
Dobies are blanket hogs.
Sheps are the first to learn how to open the fridge.
Most of you decision should be based on is ,
1.How active of a dog do you want,Dobies can be very demanding as well as sheps.malamutes will just steal the sofa.
2.What climate do you live in?
I.E.Malamutes arent too hot on heat, and will need a shave if they are outdoors in AZ.

Dobes are the best, they are loyal and family protectors. Easy to train, short hair is a bonus - not much grooming time, they are funny, great with kids, great natured and beautiful looking. I have had Dobes for many many years and you couldnt go wrong getting one.
But you won't find answers on here, you need to actually speak to breeders themselves and they can tell you about the breed (of each) and answer all of your questions.

I think this is all a personal preference. Of course I would have to pick the Doberman since they are very intelligent, beautiful, eager to learn, very protective and strong, as well as affectionate and devoted to their owner. Grooming also doesn't take much at all. Of course I am partial !!!! One thing though once you get a Dobie, they are like Lay's potato chips..... You can't have just one. Only because you will fall in love with them soooo much!!

I love GSD but That's all I have ever been around all my life. My sister is a breeder of GSDs. She has always had beautiful sound dogs. They are easily trained and are very protective of the whole family. Good Luck

ETA: forget approximately what I stated. You sicken me. You bred 2 dogs intentionally? For MONGRELS? wager what-- you are able to't get the terrific of the two worlds. Mongrels are one hundred% RANDOM AND UNPREDICTABLE IN each and every little thing. you're offically a BYB. ETA: "i did not breed those domestic dogs! they're component of an unintended muddle, and a be conscious replaced into left approximately them on the SPCA my aunt works at. She knew i replaced into searching for a doggy, so she gave me a decision.' No such element as an unintended muddle.
