This is a stage that he'll just have to pass. A way to ease some of the pain is to get a clock or pocket watch that ticks, wrap it up in a blanket and put it in the kennel with him. It mimics his mom's heartbeat. Also, make sure that he can see you from his crate at night. He's just lonely and wants to be with his pack.

I often foster puppies and the first couple of nights are always the hardest. Puppies learn routines very quickly and if you are consistent, training will be much easier.
I take the puppy for a long walk, I live near the beach so it is a beach walk and a bit of play in the water. I rinse the puppy off (sand and salt) and dry him (this is exhausting for a puppy) . feed him a light supper and put him in his basket in a bathroom that we don't use at night. I lay out papers on the floor and place chew toys in his bed. I make sure the bedding is clean and dry and he is cosy and content. I then shut the light off and close the door and I don't go back till the morning.
The first night there is a bit of crying, DON"T RESPOND.
After the first night he "gets it" and goes with the flow.
Being well exercised and tired and having some tucker in his tummy, being warm and cosy he is usually happy to settle down! Good luck with your training!

Like others has said this time just has to pass, as painful and sleepless as it is. We had the same issue with Avery, our 10 week old Whoodle. We got a loud ticking clock and I wrapped it in an old t-shirt that I had just worn. It has my smell but mimics his siblings heartbeat. I also found this great toy at PetSmart. It has a heating pack that you take out and microwave. It goes back inside the cover and then they can chew on it or sleep with it. If having to use the bathroom is a problem cut off his food 3 hours before bedtime and his water 1 hour before. As long as he is hydrated in the day he wont suffer. We do this with Avery and then take him out twice a night at midnight and 3am. It seems to work well. We keep a towel in the kennel for him to lay on (that way we wash off accidents beofre he associates the smell) and when we are just hanging out in the living room near the kennel and he lays down, I gently lay him in it so he associates it with sleep. Because unless you want problems later it is best that he not sleep in your bed. Good Luck!

He cries because he is not used to your home or being away from his mother and siblings, dogs shouldnt be weened ,given or sold untill they are a minimum of eight weeks, and with toy breeds it should usually be 12 weeks because they are so small. You shouldnt buy or take a pup before 8 wks now youll just have to wait, has he had his shots yet?Its going to take a little time getting used to being there, you could let him sleep with you, but that could cause other problems as well.. maybe have a kennel where you can pet him through the top when he gets scared. hope it helps.Plus Krissys ideas are good to, also a warm blankie.

Your puppy is like any other normal puppy at that age. When I got mine, boy oh boy, I wasn't quite prepared for just how much care and attention the little guys need! They are quite the handfull until they get to be about 6 months, they start to mature and get a bit less impy! When I had mine, its as if I gave birth to her, I had to sleep on the couch right there with her by my side. SHe would literally freak out go crazy if I left her eye sight. Sleep next to the dog, try to calm her down, pet her and talk soft before bedtime. Let dog sleep in your room.

the best humane way to do it is to just keep a few toys in his kennel, a very small bowl of food, just in case, and a puppy blanket [you can get them in stores like petsmart]. or, close your door and let him out in your room- pull him up on the bed and let him sleep. best of luck to you and your puppy!

i would say leave a small light on for him and play some low music so he wont feel so lonely. make sure he's where he knows he's close to you. i've never heard the ticking clock thing but it sounds like a good idea and makes sense!

It's seperation anxiety..it will take some time for him to get used to his new situation this can take up to a week. He shouldn't have neen seperated from his mom so early.
