Besides through prayer, testimony, and song, I would also say through actions. I think the best way to praise the Lord is to do our best to serve others the way he would want us to serve them, and to do what he taught.

I don't believe in God at all, so do not need to praise him. Also I don't believe in any other god, so I don't need to praise them either.
I say thank you to real people when and where appropriate, and if its sunny and warm, and the days going well, I will do something nice to a complete stranger, in a way I hope the good 'Karma' will come back to me on a day when its not going so well.
If it does not, I have not lost anything, but its a nice experiment in social science, and so far it has amazed me how wonderful the human spirit is.

Actually, God is not an idiot. He knows your heart. He loves praise that is given to Him willingly. I usually just start off by thanking Him for al the blessings He's given my in my life....and go to praise and worship after thanking Him. The Bible says to do this constantly......or strive to do it constantly. Best of luck to you.

With Hymns of Praise.
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen sound from His people again,
Gladly for aye we adore Him.
And of course with the Doxology:
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

One of my favorite ways of praising God is through music, hymns specifically. I sometimes sing in the choir at church, or play the piano to accompany a congregation. I have also participated in instrumental solos and groups.
Prayers of gratitude are also ways to praise, or show respect and honor, to our Heavenly Father. Try sometime to just say a "thankful" prayer. Ask for nothing, just the whole prayer is thanksgiving.

I like reading hymns, mostly ancient. I also LOVE to study the Bible. Not shallow studying, but really getting into the history of the culture and economics of the Bible. Oh, man. I really like to cook, too. Finding and trying recipes is so much fun. I also like to take photos of people.
