I'm a dentist.

Believe it or not, there exist menus for blended foods for people in your husband's situation.

Humorous as his situation may sound, maintaining proper nutrition can be a real issue for people who are unable to consume foods normally.

Protein shakes, Ensure, etc.are all good. Loosely scrambled eggs can often be sucked through the teeth.

Another thing to consider is oral hygiene. Six weeks is a long time to go without brushing the biting surfaces and inner surfaces of ones teeth. It's also a long time to go without flossing. And since the teeth are not being used to crush foods (which mechanically helps keep them clean), acid-producing bacterial plaque builds up readily. Hence, tooth decay can develop easily. He needs to keep his teeth as clean as he possibly can.

If your husband doesn't have a prescription for Peridex (12% clorhexidine gluconate), the doctor should give him one. It's a strong antimicrobial, and very appropriate for people who are "wired shut".

I went thru this. Almost anything can go thru a blender,

Go experiement, and best wishes to your husband. Just, nothing too thick.
