My understanding is, the reason they frown on depictions of Mohammed is they are afraid someone may be tempted to worship his image, so a beautiful picture would I suppose increase the danger of this happening.
Please don't.

Do you know what Muhammad looks like? How could a picture be painted of him if no one has a clue what he looked like? Sure you can say he had dark curly hair and a squarish shape face etc does not mean the painting would be an accurate representation. It is against our faith to make images of the prophet whether considered good or bad. So it could be the best painter that ever lived its still against our faith, what is so hard to respect about that? Are you desperate to intentionally upset people? Why is a painting of him necessary? Its not. All that's asked is to respect the prophet and not make images of him, i dont think that is such a mammoth task do you?

How can you be sure that the pictures of Jesus are really him... i don't think he was a blue eyed blonde... he was a middle eastener... hello olive skin.... If a picture was to be made it will be wrong on all counts because the picture is a depiction of what the artist would think he looked like. So Yes muslims will be upset.

Yes. All representations are forbidden. Of anything.
Chess, when introduced to the Muslims long long ago, had all the pieces remade so that they did not look like the kings, horses, and soldiers they were originally represented as for this very reason.

Come on get real...! you don't even know how he looks like neither are we and how you gonna paint it than by imaginary. Than that is not Muhammad(peace be upon him). Islam does not permit the painting of Muhammad (peace be upon him) picture because God don want us to worshipped him.

who decides what really really good is?
a European may have a different view of "good" art
then a African person.
i believe that people started to worship Jesus as God because they had hard proof of his face..there are many pictures of him.
So i would not want to sacrifice my religion just so i could have a picture of the beloved prophet.
There are descriptions in the Quran of how he looked anyway
so leave it up to your own imagination
don't make one universal pictures of the prophet (pbuh).
Like in Christianity how there is basically one picture of how Jesus looks and that's what everyone believes he looks like.

Yes because it's degrading Muhammad(PBUH*). None of the prophets are seen because it is disrespectful to them.
