Turn into a Muslim after about 4 years and change their name (example) from Gregory L. Smith II to Mohammad Elijah Akbar Farrakhan Ibn Aziz Divine?

Also, Muslims...is "jailhouse" Islam recognized? Is it orthodox, or is it the Inmates own particular brand or Islam...like the Taliban sort of?

Look chick...either answer the question, or drive on. I have 3 family members and friends who went to prison devout Christians and now they write me speaking of Allah this that and the third. Just wondering.

My ex-brother in law did this. but he is white.He told me the reason he did it was because in the muslim religion you do not recognize authoritive figures, so while in jail you can disrespect the guards and say it is you religious beliefs. well according to him anyway.

I don't think that it is as prevalent as you say. I would suggest that there are perhaps some, but you cannot say that almost all, because that would be a falsity. And the reason SOME do, is most likely the because of active recruiting and that an active clique exists in prisons.

They are recognized as real Muslims if they belive in Islams core beliefs. Name changing is a personal prefrence, they don't have to it for any reason.

this is none other than a stereotype....there are many whites and hispanics and others who go to jail so what are you getting at hun?
