This is dated back to 1997, but it's still relevant. Catholics and Protestants together made up 74% of the prison population, while atheists came in at a whopping 0.2%. Nice morals there, Christians.

Religious people are more centered on what doG wants (which, at times, has meant slaughter) while atheists are focused on humanity.

Cause doG stinks. When he gets wet. And then doG goes and blames the smell on atheists.

Without a standard, atheists can have no set morals, only relative ones that change as they find suits their needs.

As for Catholics and Protestants in jail, I find that no more proof of real Christian morality as Rednecks reflecting true American beliefs or Islamic extremists reflecting muslim opinion as a whole.

I've met Catholics who claim to be atheists. How does that work? Catholic and Protestant is a name only thing, not necessarily a Christian thing.

Atheists can only be focused on survival of the fittest, and should not be concerned for the welfare of others, as helping those less fortunate will only make the species weaker. So, yeah... a focused on humanity.

Unfortunately, there are many people considered 'religious' who are still only focused on themselves, and end up making a mess of things for all the others to see.

They are considered amoral because they dont have an objective foundation for morality (good or bad) since they do not believe in a creator. And we've also seen what happens when atheists gain control of powerful nations. (slaughter and the abuse of human rights which you claim they so deeply love and cherish)

Some atheists do cling to good morality, but it is only by accident and the last thing they care about deep down is humanity. Atheists care primarily about THEMSELVES. If they had a deep care and love for all people they would respect their religion and not try to oppress them every chance they get.

First its God, and not everyone that claims to be Catholics and Protestant really are true believers in Christ. So unless you can talk to all the Catholic and Protestants and atheists to find their true beliefs you are going on assumption alone. God wants us to walk in the way He would which is focused on humanity. Don't forget He gave us the greatest sacrifice His only Son.

Because most people say they believe in God but other than telling others how they are not living up to what they should be, they don't follow a bit of it. Just look at Ted Haggard the Colorado Springs ex-pastor.....he was a big kahuna on the christian front for a long time and apparently didn't follow one word of what he preached to others.

Because almost all religions teach that those without faith are bad people. I agree; as an agnostic, I often get a lot of grief from Christians. However, I agree with some Christian morals, such as "thou shalt not kill" and "judge not, lest ye be judged."

However, many Christians are hypocrites. I have yet to meet a Christian that doesn't judge others based on religion.

I think it because for the most part, religious people just refuse to accept that people don't have the same beliefs they do. I think it all stems from a vain desire for each individual religion to be 'right' and at the end of the day, they refuse to admit they might not be. Because of this, they place a negative stimga on others who don't share beliefs, and especially on those who don't seem to have any beliefs at all. This includes attacking their morals.

To refer to God a doG, interesting. Not everyone who claims to be a christian is. No one is perfect even you atheist. But let me tell you this. Just because you are a good person on earth, doesn't really mean squat in the long run if you don't believe in God, or as you know him as, doG. You live your life for what you can see, which doesn't last for ever, and will dissappear, instead of living your life for eternity. Just because you don't believe in God, doesn't make him any less real. Lets just pretend God is real, and there is a heaven and a hell. Quess where you are going? Can you really risk that? You don't believe, but God is real. And he will judge you, and I'm sure one day God himself will ask you, do you really think I am a doG. What will you say?

Well, one question on here tonight said that us Christians commit all the crimes. So I don't feel bad. And for your information, Catholics and Protestants make up most of the population here in the USA and in the UK so it stands to reason their percentage would be higher.

Take a look at Eastern Europe were religion was taken out. What do we have, crime and violence. According to your theory they should be peaceful. The tribes in Africa. No religion. Tribal warfares. How about America were people are becoming more secular, what do we get? Increase in violence. Religion does not cause violence. There is more proof that lack of religion causes violence.

I consider myself as far more moral - in that I choose to do something 'good' because I want to do it, not because some silly book tells me I have to do it, or I think that I will be rewarded at a later point for doing it.
